I cannot wait for this film. Not even the presence of Dakota Fanning, who I hate, can temper my enthusiasm for it.

Saw a test screening. It had two keys to for me loving it.

Selick and Gaiman.

I loved it.

I know that They Might Be Giants were working on music for it. I don't know if they did the soundtrack in general or just contributed some music.

They showed a trailer for this before Monster House over 2 years ago, saying it got pushed back is an understatement (Though, I think it had a late 2007 date originally).

From what I've seen, the film will have a very limited release for Oscar consideration in December with a wide release in February 2009.

Like Selik's stuff... not big on Gaiman, but as a big stop-mo fan I am eagerly awaiting this. These type of films are too few and far between.

Looks great. Also looks like Selick added a lot that wasn't in the book, but I guess that's to be expected.

Loved the book. Can't wait to see the movie. Don't think my daughter will sit through a screening at a theater yet. I'll probably buy it on DVD.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 3-D version. The 3-D trailers shown during recent 3-D movies have peaked my interest.

After seeing the 3-D trailer before My Bloody Valentine 3-D it completely sold me. I can not wait. Any reviews or impressions? I know there were screenings in LA last night.

Re: Coraline (Selick, 2009): Stop-motion 3D based on Neil Gaiman's novel

I was lucky to see this in Austin this past Sunday with Selick in attendance. It's a rather amazing movie. Very beautifully shot as well. I didn't know much about this story, but it definitely does not seem like small children's fare. I believe it's PG, but when the story takes that dark turn, I definitely couldn't imagine my 5 year old daughter seeing this without getting scared. But overall, it's Selick's best stuff yet - IMO, much better than Nightmare Before Christmas, which i love a lot. The 3D is pretty amazing as well. Selick mentioned he didn't want to to be a 3D fest throughout the entire movie, and it shows. When you see the images pop up in certain scenes, it really enhances the effect of the story. Towards the end it increases a lot more. I can't wait to see this again.

Oh, Selick did say when Disney said they were going to do Nightmare in 3D, both he and Tim Burton thought it was the dumbest idea they ever heard of. But he was pleased with what they did with it.

Re: Coraline (Selick, 2009): Stop-motion 3D based on Neil Gaiman's novel

It looks pretty good to me, but the trailer doesn't do much for me. I'm not a fan of Gaiman so that may be part of the turn-off for me. Unless I hear some great reviews I might pass on this one altogether. Unless, of course, my chick wants to see it....
