Bat Out Of Hell (Joe Dante, 2011)

Release Date: To Be Announced 2011
Director: Joe Dante
Writer: Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan

Synopsis from Bloody-Disgusting:
As a red eye flight from Los Angeles to New York takes off, everything seems to be normal. That is until the co-pilot kills the pilot and a rouge group of coach passengers head into first class armed and ready to kill. Their claim - there are 9 passengers in the front of the plane who must die tonight. They are vampires, and our "heroes" will crash the plane if they have to in order to ensure what must be done is done. Not willing to die without fighting, the vampires unleash their fury in a battle of strength and wits six miles high, and all before the sun rises on an unknowing New York City.

Um, what? Ok well I'll give them points for originality. Though I bet some will
find hijacking/crashing planes to do the right thing controversial. And 2011? Why
so far off?

Just as long as none of the characters utters the phrase "let's roll".

Uhm if vampires can fly and have supernatural strength why wouldn't they just smash through one of the doors or windows?

If vampires can fly, why would they need to take a plane in the first place?

This was from April:
Warren Zide, producer of the "American Pie" and "Final Destination" franchises, is partnering with Parallel Media in a $70 million production financing deal covering eight films, one of which is titled Bat Out of Hell, which was written by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, the duo behind the Masters of Horror episodes "Pro-Life" and "John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns". The projects will be co-produced through Parallel Zide as a new division of Parallel Media, backed by Russian mogul Olga Mirimskaya. The new division will produce at least two genre movies a year in the $4 million-$15 million range. No other details were given.
Hopefully the budget of this one will be closer to $15 million than $4.

Why would they even think about crashing the plane? We KNOW vampires can survive that. It would make more sense to just keep the plane in the air until sunrise.

EDIT: And if they fly the plane eastwards, sunrise will come faster.

That title sucks. They should go with "High Tide".

McWeeny and Swan? They did ok with Carpenter's first MoH episode, but Pro-Life was pretty effin' bad.

The premise sounds interesting, but I have little doubt they'll pull it off. I'm sure it will end up sucking.

Also, Meatloaf needs to be in this.

He'd have to buy two seats, like this guy.
