"Best" best picture winner of the 1990's

Which of the Best Picture winners of the 1990's do you think is the best?

BTW, I know I included two of them in the other poll, which was a mistake. Regardless, LOTR:TROTK won, so it was selected as the "Best" best picture winner of the 2000's.

Definitely one of the better decades for Best Picture winners. Some losers (English Patient, Goodfellas not winning), but overall my vote is split between Silence of the Lambs and American Beauty. I'm also very fond of Unforgiven, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump (even if Pulp Fiction should've won that year I actually love the film), and Braveheart.

Out of everything listed I probably enjoyed Forrest Gump the most. It makes me realize how much I don't really care for oscar nom movies.

Schindler's List is probably the best. But, The Silence of the Lambs is my favorite.

Schindler's List with Dances with Wolves and Braveheart a close 2nd for me.

It was a very very good decade. American Beauty and Unforgiven included.

Shakespeare in Love should have gotten a razzy award, not an oscar.

Don't be ridiculous. Just because you hated it, or pissed that it lost to another film you wanted to win, doesn't mean it's a bad film. It was anything but and not even close to being one of the worst movies that year. Hey, I'm with you. There are tons of movies that I hated, but it doesn't make them bad films. I just didn't enjoy them.

TITANIC and the movie going public says so in box-office repeat viewing.
And those weren't fanboys trying to make it number one of all-time like with THE DARK KNIGHT this year.

I'd have to say, oh man, it's tough. I think Schindler's List was fantastic and maybe the best but as far as my personal enjoyment went since SL is so depressing, I absolutely love Braveheart and Forrest Gump. It's a tie b/w those two for me as best.

Actually, yes. I hated it because it was such a manipulative after school special for adults. But it wasn't a terrible film. I just don't like movies that hit me over the head the entire time with a message. But there were some very good performances in it.

Silence of the Lambs hands down for me. I can remember specifically wanting to watch it again as soon as the credits began rolling.

Unforgiven. The fact that Goodfellas lost out to a film like Dances with Wolves speaks volumes about the Academy's general cluelessness. Don't even get me started on Forrest Gump.

Silence of the Lambs. In 1994, it should have been The Shawshank Redemption, then that would be the best. Gump was good, but not as good as this.

Shawshank wasn't even the best prison drama that year.

I've seen all, but 3 of the Best Picture winners of the 90's. Currently my favorite is Forrest Gump. Please, don't hit me.

I voted Schindler's list and think Dances with Wolves is a close second.

As far as what I watch and enjoy more than the others, Forest Gump and Silence of the Lambs.

Titanic got it's money thanks to fangirls who saw it over and over again, just like fanboys who saw The Dark Knight over and over again.

My choice was Schindler's List. I've seen all of the winners and would rank them the following:

Schindler's List
American Beauty
Titanic
The Silence of the Lambs
Unforgiven
Dances with Wolves
Braveheart
The English Patient
Shakespeare in Love
Forrest Gump

No film makes nearly TWO BILLION worldwide off of little girls alone. TITANIC played across the board, period. Methinks those who complain about it being the #1 box office film (unadjusted) because of "fangirls" are largely Star Wars dorks looking for a reason to bitch.

Or something similar.

ANYWAY that having been said, here's how I'd rate them, in order:

UNFORGIVEN -- an absolute powerhouse of an amazing movie.
Schindler's List
The Silence of the Lambs
American Beauty
Titanic
Braveheart
Shakespeare in Love
Dances With Wolves
Forrest Gump -- loathed with a passion reserved for Nazis, people who watch "Two And A Half Men", and people who revere "Catcher In The Rye".

NEVER SEEN: The English Patient. Doubt I ever will, either.

Unforgiven- Eastwood made making Westerns viable again when he crafted this incredible film.

Forrest Gump
Schindler's List
Titanic
Dances With Wolves
The Silence Of The Lambs
Braveheart
American Beauty
Shakespeare In Love
The English Patient
