Moving it to November means it's either really good or really awful. If it was moved from March to August or September, you'd be more on track that it's because it's shit. November? That actually has me curious. (Though Southland was also released in November, so who knows).

A few updates from Richard Kelly, including this:
And especially for chris_sc77:
WB is releasing the film on October 30, 2009.
The running time is 1 hour 55 minutes long including end credits.

I love Donnie Darko, but hated Domino and Southland Tales. I'll have to see the trailer before deciding whether to see this or not.

I kinda like the poster but wish we didnt have a big ol Cameron Diaz head on it. I guess with the studio paying her all the money they did they wanna use that face though so I cant really blame them. I am looking forward to this most definitely though.

^yeah, i doubt they would get much mileage out of putting something like 'from the director of donnie darko' on the cover, as outside of cinne's like us, most have prob never heard of him

Well i guess the poster shows a PG-13 rating so there went about 75% of my enthusiasm for the film. I guess the story may not need a hard R rating to tell the story properly but I will have to at least wait until the dollar theaters or DVD before I check this one out. Still i look forward to the trailer when it appears.

Dismissing a movie because it isn't rated R and is less than 2 hours long is sillier than dismissing a movie because it has Sean Penn in it.

Re: The Box (Richard Kelly, 2009)
Im not dismissing it at all I just more than likely will have to wait until dvd for this one. It seems like when I do see a PG-13 film less than 2 hours long in theaters I get burned. Quantum of Solace anyone?
Its also having to deal with the PG-13 audience, the trailers they program on PG-13 films, etc.
But I do have a feeling I may try to catch this one at the dollar theater if it comes at a convenient time.

Even if Quantum was rated R and over 120 minutes, it still would have been less than stellar for the sheer fact that Marc Forster directed it... it actually probably would have been even WORSE...

Having seen the Twilight Zone episode, I wonder how they are going to drag this out to 2 hours. I mean, assuming its the same "twist", this has M. Night letdown red flags all over it.

This was my first thought. In fact, that episode was just a vehicle for that twist. And since I know what that twist is I can't see how they can stretch it out to feature length nor do I feel like sitting through it. We shall see.....

Actually it wasn't -- the short story didn't contain any such twist, and Matheson was upset that the producers added it. His ending was more psychological, with the wife's decision ruining the marriage.

Trailer is up. I think it looks pretty good. But what's up with all these trailers using the music from Saw? As soon as people hear that song, they associate it with Saw.

I saw a bit of the trailer on Entertainment Tonight but missed Langella's face close-up. What was on his face, some disfigurement?
