Wasn't Talia the only one who could do that?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Maybe it was also a subtle nod to the fact that many of those complaints were easily explained away by people who paid attention.

Didn't Rocshemp call him out on something ^he missed? Lack of paying attention at fault possibly?

Saw this for the fourth time last night with my Regal free movie ticket reward and still love the hell out of it. Although I spot some imperfections here and there, this just doesn't get old to me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

FWIW:

Wouldn't the radar of the plane at the beginning have picked up another plane approaching? Guess there were budget cuts in government technology, or perhaps they had a tracking device.

Also, why did Leonard Shelby manage to remember he had a memory problem if he couldn't generate ANY new memories due to his condition. And...

Spoiler:
Why would Loki want to take control of Hawkeye? Wouldn't it make more sense to try and control Nick Fury, seeing as how he's the commander of SHIELD? That could have eliminated a lot of problems and made his escape from the underground HQ a lot less messy.

Oops. Wrong movies.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Really liked this. Better than the others. I only have 2 funny things I can't explain...

Why did Gordon decide that the totally closed manhole cover HAD to be investigated? Was that a dead end alley? Strange hunch.

Second thing. All the Gotham cops caught in the cave in had their weapons with them. Why in hell did they charge Banes gang with nothing but nightsticks? Weird.

I liked it overall though.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Warner Brothers announced today that Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises has passed the $100 million global box office mark in 557 IMAX theatres worldwide after its 7th week of release. The film is expected to arrive on Blu-ray later this year.

The Dark Knight Rises reached a total of $65.1 million from 332 IMAX screens domestically and $37.3 million from 225 IMAX screens internationally. The film also opened in China on August 27th in 75 IMAX theaters.

In 2008, during the shooting of The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan was the first filmmaker to use IMAX cameras in a major motion picture release.

The only other Hollywood production to cross the $100 million milestone for IMAX is James Cameron's Avatar 3D, which will be available on Blu-ray on October 16th.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Why would anybody complain about the box office for the Dark Knight Rises. It's taken in more worldwide than the supposed end all be all blockbuster of all time...The Dark Knight. It can still rack up more sales and there hasn't been THAT much inflation since 2008. Yeah, yeah, yeah The Dark Knight sold more tickets, but Rises brought in more money and since there hasn't been that muh inflation, it'll probably end up being just as profitable and maybe more profitable than the Dark Knight.

WB has to be happy with a movie that has already grossed more than $1 billion and hasn't even hit dvd/blu ray yet.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

It's funny, I saw this film about five weeks ago and I was annoyed because the music was so friggin loud it drowned out the dialogue in several scenes.
I saw this for the second time yesterday and the music was no longer so bombastic and I was able to actually understand much of the dialogue that I couldn't catch the first time I saw this. I wonder if Warner's corrected the sound mix in the last few weeks or something?
I live in PA, about 40 minutes away from Pittsburgh, and I gotta say the 'Burgh hasn't looked this good on the big screen since that John Landis vampire flick Innocent Blood. It was great to see car/truck chases in downtown Pittsburgh.

I doubt WB would spend the money to remix the audio, reprint the films, and redistribute the new film reels a month and a half after the film's release. Was your first viewing in IMAX and your second viewing in a regular theater? Many people have complained that the IMAX mix is a bit bombastic while regular theater viewings are a bit more balanced.

Nope, my first and second viewings were both in a regular theater. Weird.
I'm not complaining or anything, but I def enjoyed the movie more the second time I saw it!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I've heard some misconfigured sound systems in plenty of movies in the past (Day Watch had a terrible theater volume mix and the audio kept dropping out). It can really hurt a flick.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

When I saw Lawless last weak the audio sounded very weak. It almost sounded as if all the audio was only coming out of the center channel. There just wasn't any the oomph that I'm used to hearing at the theater.

Those videos are great.

That Talia death scene was terrible. I still don't understand how anyone saw that and thought it was fine.

It didn't bother me. I suppose it could have been better, but I feel like terrible is hyperbole.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

In regards to the audio, I saw this movie for one last time last weekend, in the same theater where I have already seen it multiple times. The audio was fine in the previous viewings (not Imax level, obviously, but good), but with the showing last week I also had a case of a weak/weird mix. Nothing seemed as loud. Explosions seemed quiet, and all of the music in the film sound like it was at about half volume from my previous viewings.

While we're on the topic, and I can't find the reviews for the other one:

I've never seen that channel before, but most of the ones I ended up watching last night were pretty good.

Saw it again last Sunday, and -for me- Annie H's Catwoman was THE BEST Catwoman in any Batman series.
