After seeing Anne Hathaway's reaction, I'm not so sure...

Well I certainly hope so. Dave has seen the movie at this point. At the very end of his interview with Hathaway last night
Spoiler:
he flat-out states "At the end of this movie The Batman is dead". Hathaway looked taken aback when he said that, and almost looked like she was immediately in rumour control-mode when she countered with "the death is symbolic only", or words to that effect. I don't recall the actual words she says after Dave's statement, it happens very quickly. So basically Letterman has just revealed that Bale is alive at the closing credits of the film but "The Batman" is dead. That's a pretty damn big spoiler to throw out there if you ask me. That is the ending of the film.

Remember all the hyperbole when TDK came out? Keep that in mind and gauge accordingly.

I think Jules should start a thread where we can all hypothesize about what Snake is doing with his time off.

You guys can't always rely on me to start the nonsense threads. I know you guys know how to start a thread also.

Oh, man, you're so right. It was certainly annoying to me. I dreaded every time he said something. It kept pulling me out of the movie.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I'm sorry, I don't think Batman dying (if it does happen) is a huge spoiler. 99% of us knew in 1982 that Spock was going to die and that didn't ruin THE WRATH OF KHAN. It's HOW it happens that we don't want spoiled (again, assuming it does).

I mean, for heaven's sake, EW's new issue has BATMAN'S KILLER FINALE on the cover...you don't think the word "killer" is just a coincidence, do you?!

To me the whole Batman dying thing just seems overblown by the Internet fanboys. Like people want it to happen or something because they think that'd be the shocking twist for Nolan to do or some stupid shit like that. I really am not convinced that Batman dies whatsoever. I could be wrong of course but I just don't see it happening.

The final twist will be that the John Blake is the real bad guy of the piece.

I don't know if it would be shocking, but it would show some guts. It would/could certainly elevate the trilogy into something for the ages. It could also fall flat on its face. It's a risk, but it's certainly a lot gutsier than "Batman saves the day again".

Meh..to me that just seems like a dumb idea. Nolan took Batman up from out of the crapper and saved the franchise on film. To kill off the main character just to be different or gutsy or whatever seems like a dumb move to me. Although I'm sure if anyone could pull it off and do it justice Christoper Nolan is the person who could do it properly. I still say the downer angle was already played off in The Dark Knight so it doesn't really seem like it's necessary for it to be used again.

The final twist is that it was all a vision, and then Jesus dies on the cross.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Oh for fucks sake. Let's stop playing and just spoiler the real ending so everyone who really wants to know can have it spoiled for them already.

Spoiler:
Bane is Sammy Jankis.

There. Now let's move on already.

So Hardy claims that his accent as Bane is a Caribbean accent. Although the accent is eerily familiar, Caribbean doesn't even come remotely to mind when I hear it.

Damn, it's like the thread didn't even exist. Just like I heard Batman doesn't in The Dark Knight Rises. Supposedly, Alfred is a senile old fart, living in a nursing home who imagines the whole thing.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

FWIW, they were still able to keep Spock's death a secret for the most part. Remember, this was before the internet, and they even had the line "Aren't you dead?" in the trailer. Then, he does "die" in the first five minutes. That was kind of a way to fool the audience into thinking they had already seen his death.

FWIW, Letterman seems to be acting more prickish as of late. I have always thought him funny, but he really seems to have an "aw fuck it " attitude about him these days.
