"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" - trailers

British author Mark Haddon's first adult novel won the prestigious Whitbread Prize in 2003. Its film rights were purchased by Brad Pitt but no production date has been set so far. The novel is a first-person account of a fifteen-year-old British boy investigating the death of a neighbourhood dog.

However, as this novel resonates with a lot of young people who have it on their school reading lists worldwide, YouTube is presently glutted with fake trailers for the film.

Most of them are in bad taste and bordering on insult to its subject matter (which I won't reveal) and also contain major spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the book yet.

Some are less offensive and actually show signs of creativity and intelligence, such as these three:

In any case, I don't think we should hold our breath for a screen adaptation any time soon. Not when there are approximately 3,540 comic-book/superhero-in-long-underwear titles on Hollywood producers' logbooks to go through right now.

While sifting through the enormous number of YouTube trailers/previews/excerpts/main titles/amateur films about The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, I came to the conclusion that a lot of them are mediocre and unrespectful of their subject simply because they are school projects. That is to say that the reading of this book and the making of those films were often times imposed exercises that the students used to express their hatred for the book or school projects or literature or reading in general. This is my only explanation. Well, that and the fact that most of the filmmakers are actually more
Spoiler:
fucking mentally deficient
than the novel's hero.
