Please recommend horror anthologies for me
I know this topic has come up, but couldn't find anything that fit the bill. So can some of you suggest horror anthology movies for me. I actually enjoy these, even if they aren't particularly good. :) Here's a few I already know of:
Creepshow (FANTASTIC!) Creepshow 2 (quite good) Cat's Eye (quite good) Tales from the Darkside (quite good) The Vault of Horror (1973 - quite good) Tales from the Crypt (1972 - quite good) Trapped Ashes (so-so) Hood of Horror (not too good) Twilight Zone The Movie (good) Well, these are the only ones that come to my mind... Any others? |

Scream and Scream Again (a little boring, but it does feature Vincent Price)
Two Evil Eyes (Romero and Argento) Tales from the Hood (Never seen it) |

Maybe I'm getting old (I am), but MAN, Japanese horror writers are sick fucks! :) I may give this one a try, but I'm not a huge fan of torture-style horror films. I really do wonder if some writers just try their hardest to see if they can make their audiences throw up. ;)
While it isn't completely graphic, the Chan story is actually the sickest one.

Trilogy of Terror: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073820/
|
Tales of Terror - Terrific Corman Poe Picture
The Uncanny - Peter Cushing, Ray Milland, and Donald Pleasence battle killer kitties The House That Dripped Blood - Okay Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee Amicus film Torture Garden - Another okay Amicus film, but Peter Cushing is great as The Man Who Collected Poe The Monster Club -rather goofy '80s film with the always great Vincent Price Trilogy of Terror - three words: Zuni fetish doll |
Dead Of Night (1945 a classic)
Spirits of the Dead (1968 Vadim not so good, Malle good, Fellini great) From a Whisper to a Scream (1987 Vincent Price good) Tales That Witness Madness (1973 good) |
Masters of Horror S1 and S2, not the greatest but do able. And yeah, the Japanese segment is the tamest of the three.
I was going to say Three ... Extremes myself, beautifully shot flick. Kwaidan |

'Dumplings' looked great because it was shot by famed DP Christopher Doyle. The film incidently was 91 minutes in length and cut for the anthology presentation.

Campfire Tales (1997)
I remember it being a fun little movie. Four kids sit around a campfire and tell urban legends. There's a bunch of recognizeable stars even if they're not that big, lol. It's available on DVD. |

Techincally, the stories are directed by a Chinese (Chan), a South Korean (Park), and a Japanese (Miike)

Asylum(1972?) one of the best
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors(R2) Beyond The Grave( vhs) Black Sabbath Twice Told Tales Night Gallery |

Grim Prairie Tales . Believe it or not, I have Creepshow 3 on the way. I've heard it sucks, major-time, but I thought I'd give it a try. Has anyone heard about the possibility of a Creepshow 4, with Stephen King stories, again, this time? I saw it on IMDB... |

Nuts, not available on blockbuster.com. Most of the others are, so I've added them.

I am curently watching 6 Films To Keep You Awake. A fantastic set of 6, 1 hour spanish language horror movies. Although not available on DVD yet, John Carpenter's Body Bags was pretty good. Also there is a horror anthology coming out this Halloween tha looks good (Trick or Treat?) |
Kolchak: The Night Stalker
It's cheesy, campy and dated. But, Darren McGavin makes it worth it. |
