Best Slapstick EVER!
 

From the Marx Brothers to Peter Sellers. From Chevy Chase to Martin Short. From Buster Keaton to.....Dudley Moore.....? Anyway, point is we have a lot to choose from when it comes to the best scene for Slapstick. Have had it: What is your best moment of Slapstick in film history?

the scene in airplane where the woman plays the guitar for the sick kid.

Jackie Chan...anything in his Hong Kong 80s flicks up to his last great piece Drunken Master II. The man is amazing. He's like a live-action cartoon. Just amazing athleticism and movement to accomplish the physically difficult into pure entertaining cinema.

The mangled syntax and capital letters of these "Best...EVER!" threads is a bit irritating, but I'll bite. Not really a "best moment" per se, but I love the gentle, subtle slapstick that Jacques Tati masterfully fills all of his films with.

I'd have to say the the 1963 It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is one of my picks.

oh, Charlie Chaplin. He has to be the greatest at that...

The Pink Panther ( I forget which movie ) when Clouseau goes into a hotel and the man say's " I take-a your hat, I take-a your coat, I take-a your gloves " he thinks that he'll put them away for him and he walks out the door gets into his car and takes off and waves goodbye to Clouseau as he drives off.
There are millions of other moments from movies but this is the first one that I thought of.

I think Buster Keaton gets my vote based on how innovative some of his stuff was. Sherlock Jr. in particular has some scenes that are jaw dropping.

The Three Stooges get a special mention just for the sheer volume of work they produced.

I always loved the scene in the Money Pit that ends with Tom Hanks sliding down the construction scaffolding into a fountain. Love that movie.

Do they even make total slapstick movies anymore? The last one I can think of would have been Brain Donors.

Three Stooges. In one Larry is cooking something on the stove in a big pot. Moe is next to him bent over, doing something. Whatever Larry is cooking starts to boil over so he takes the pot off the stove, looks around for a spot to put it, and puts it right on Moe's back.
Gotta love the hot clothes iron to the side of the face. When Larry or Shemp get nervous and start biting their fingernails, spitting out these huge chunks of fingernail.
One thing I find funny, no matter what it appears in, somebodys hair standing straight up when they see something scary.

Cartoons are great too. Somebody gets blown up and then crumbles to a pile of pieces. Character smashes through wall and leaves hole in shape of character. That little puff of dust when coyote finally hits bottom. Coyote sets trap, doesn't work, forget about it and later in the toon it nails the coyote.

They've gotta be the all-time kings of slapstick comedy

No love for Sons of the Desert, The Flying Deuces, or The Music Box - Laurel & Hardy?

But Buster Keaton is the supreme being when it comes to slapstick - Cops, Sherlock Jr., The General, and almost all of his other shorts/features, are perfection.

BINGO! I laugh my ass off at this one every damn time I watch it.

Agree with the Stooges and Laurel and Hardy, and add in The Big Store, Duck Soup and Night at the Opera.

Any soccer match from 'Shaolin Soccer'.

Woody Allen waking up from cryostasis in Sleeper had me laughing so hard.

Airplane! for me also.

Laurel and Hardy in just about anything they made for Hal Roach. Especially their 1930's short subjects. Their later features were below par, but they still gave them their best shot.
