This is apparently not a joke.

I'd wait to hear from a more reliable source than a British newspaper that cites no real sources.

Here's hoping it isn't a reliable source. Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, would be perfect for the role.

I assume this would be his follow up project - I vaguely recall him mentioning a remake with Tera Patrick at the helm a while ago. This would probably be a couple of years down the line anyway, and even if Spears commits she might be committed herself by then.

I only hope that this remake sparks enough interest in the original to see it get a decent R1 release, maybe even on Blu-ray!

It'll never happen, which is good because I don't want it to ever happen. Even though Tera Patrick DOES look like Tura Satana, this is still a bad idea.

I don't think Meyer's estate will ever let anyone put out decently transferred, reasonably priced DVDs of his films. According to Jimmy Mcdonough's bio, the people running the show are incompetent sleazebags. The R0 Arrow releases are certainly nothing to write home about either, but they are superior transfer wise, and the set works out to around six bucks a film from Amazon.co.uk.

The Arrow releases do have fantastic extras though. Especially the Jonathon Ross show on Mondo Topless and the Kitten Natividad interview on Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens.

Can't say I'm on board with this, but if it has to be done, I could see Britney as one of the other girls, but not the lead, no way.

If this is true, I'm not seeing it. Sorry Quentin.

Wanna know why I knew this couldn't be true?

Quentin isn't a remake person. He'll take original material and make it his own, which makes him all the better a writer/director.

Could Martin Scorsese or Neil Jordan do something like Death Proof?

The rumor of Spears being in the film turned out to be false, but QT is apparently still doing the remake of Faster Pussycat.

And you're giving QT too much credit. Remake or not, he hasn't done anything original in a while.

I wish it would have been true. QT would have dolled her up and made her lose about 10 pounds. She's at the point in her "career" where she needs to do some nudity in order to get noticed, and I'd buy a ticket to see that.

I owned the laserdisc, but finally broke down earlier this year and bought the DVD off Amazon UK. Used a program to convert it from PAL to NTSC, and I'm satisfied with the transfer and audio commentary.

Awesome movie, but I always wondered what a remake would look like since it wouldn't be restrained by the MPAA's pre-rating standards. Couldn't think of anyone more suited to direct than Tarantino.

This would have been a really strange collaboration. Glad to hear it's not true.

Why would they want to? Could Tarantino "do something" like The Age of Innocence, Kundun, or The Last Temptation of Christ? I'm as relieved as anyone that this was a false rumor, although I might be able to picture Spears in the Lori Williams role.
