Re: HEY YOU GUYS! Goonies 2 a Reality?
I remember laughing at them mentioning the octopus at the end because I thought they were exaggerating their story to the parents. Then I saw the Lauper video and thought "Shit! There was an octopus!"

Re: HEY YOU GUYS! Goonies 2 a Reality?
Perhaps no sequel has been rumored to be on the way longer than The Goonies. The beloved 80s film doesn’t just have a loyal fan following, but a cast willing to come back for more as well. The state of the script has been unknown for a long time, but original star Sean Astin teased the return of one important figure in the sequel at a recent convention appearance.
Astin appeared at Phoenix ComicCon over the weekend, and the actor has been one of the most outspoken supporters of a sequel as we get further and further away from the theatrical release of the original film. Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and Martha Plimpton have all expressed an interest in returning to their roles for a sequel over the years at one time or another, but many of the rest of the cast have actually left the acting business all together.
The panel in which Astin appeared had him telling the audience one little tidbit about the possible sequel. He told the curious audience, “the original Goonies - it’s not the only time that Mikey will come face to face with One-Eyed Willy.”
Astin, of course, played Mikey in the original film. Mikey and his friends were in danger of losing their family homes to developers and set out for one last adventure to find the treasure of mythical pirate One-Eyed Willy. The goal for Mikey wasn’t just one last good time with his friends, but also a chance to find the gold that could save his parents from having to sell their house.
One memorable sequence in the film had Mikey talking to the skeleton of the pirate once he and his friends had survived the traps set for intruders. It demonstrated just how much respect he had for the pirate as he instructed his friends to make sure and leave Willy some of his own gold. The end of the film involved Willy’s pirate ship being unmoored from the cave where it had been hiding and sailing off into the sunset.
Whether or not Astin knows specifically what the sequel would entail is unclear. Rumors have persisted for years that it would involve the children from the first movie, now as adults, as their own children pull them into a new adventure. Astin might know more specifics about the movie, but if he does, he’s not saying anything more.

I don't know why I keep holding on to hope that this will actually happen. I can't see it being any good...

Lots of edits in that. In my imagination it was all the times they said "Shut up, Corey" since they seemed to edit out most of his talking. Zoom appeared to be beyond Dick Donner's ability.
Oh, and Kerri Green....still pretty.

I prefer Kerri with red hair but, yeah, she still looks great.
Cool to see Josh Brolin willing to participate in that too.

It’s still red/auburn.

While I realize a Goonies sequel will only be a fraction as good as the original, it’s probably one of my most wanted sequels of all time.

This was pretty good, although not as good as the audio commentary they did together.
Sean doing the “Our time down here!” speech was an absolute highlight.

It warms my heart that they all genuinely seemed to enjoy doing the movie back then and still have such fond memories of it and of one another. Personally, I think a sequel would only dilute the magic of the original, but I get why people want it.

I loved the original growing up, and will still watch it if I come across it, but I really don't need a sequel.
But if they make one, I hope they kill off Corey Feldman in the first 5 minutes.

I just watched this on YouTube and it was pretty fun for the most part. Was surprised they got Dick Donner to participate. He looked and sounded pretty sharp for his age. But, that was a little awkward they just kept chatting while he had his audio problems.
I probably haven't seen Ke Huy Quan in like 30 years, so it was cool to see him participate. I used to watch Head of the Class semi-regularly and recall he had a role on that.
I can't believe Kerri Green is 53 now. I still remember when she was that sweet and naive young girl in Lucas when I first saw it 30+ years ago. And she still looks good now.
I when Sean Astin got Gad to do his little fat belly dance and he said....No not that.

As much as I want this to happen, at this point I just don't see it. If it does happen, I'd want Chris Columbus to write it (apparently he did have a good idea many many years ago but ended up abandoning it). I also think Sean Astin kind of tarnished his reputation with several appearances on Fox News (not to get political), but my understanding is some of the other cast members aren't very fond of him for that...Which is too bad...It remains in my top three movies along with Fargo and John Carpenter's The Thing...And I still love listening to that video commentary with the cast...That's great stuff...

Thanks for posting the YT video! It was nice to see them after all these years. I have to say that I hope if I get to be 90 years old, I'm as sharp as Richard Donner.

I guess Adam Goldberg realized that Donner was 90 years old and figured he probably shouldn’t wait much longer.
I’ve never watched The Goldbergs so I don’t know much about Adam Goldberg’s work but based on that teaser art for Goonies 2, I kind of like the idea of One Eyed Willy’s cave as a tourist attraction. I can see some good story ideas coming from that.

I like that idea a lot too. I wonder who the assistant curly, or kerney... would be.
