mixed feelings all around here. It should have been done 10 years ago.

Yeah, but Corey Feldman actually had a career back then, he might not have done it.

I kinda like the idea, provided all involved are dedicated to making a good film that doesn't crap on the memory of the original. The one thing in the article that bugged me:

He has this Chinese accent and he calls the Goonies the Groonies, and so the new kids call themselves the Groonies...
I know he had the accent in the first film, but I don't recall him ever saying "Groonies". The accent was cute in the first film because he just talked that way, but I never got the impression the filmmakers were mocking him for it. Now it sounds like they're basing this huge big joke out of his accent.

Help Make Goonies 2 a reality or not.

Corey Feldman is trying to get some names for a petition to show Warner Brothers how people are interested in a Goonies Sequel. Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner are both interested in making another Goonies movie but Warner Brothers isn't convinced. No one seems to want it more than Mr. Feldman, Hmm.

It would have to be a pretty great script for me to get behind it/want to see it. It was fantastic seeing the cast members together, all grown up, on the DVD commentary, but I would HATE to see this movie spoiled by a bad, unnecessary sequel. A good, unnecessary sequel, toes the line enough as is...

TREX1993 is right. If there is a great script out there for it and Speilberg is attached, I may be interested. But if Feldman can get this made I hope to God he isn't the main character.

If Spielberg is backing it, I would hope at least we would at least get a decent script.

Anyway, if done right (that means not focusing as much on the "new" kids, and no overt CGI) I would welcome it. Besides, Sean Astin could really use the work. What's he been in lately???

Why? What's the point? Corey obviously is desperate for money. Goonies doesnt need a sequel, its one of those movies that stands out on its own. Id much rather see a Ghostbusters 3. Because with Ghostbusters, there's so much you can do with em. Goonies on the other hand....wth would it be about? I really dont wanna see a Goonies 2, so Ill pass.

I'll help out - anything to get Feldman back in a theatrical release movie and get him out of B-movies w/ Jeff Fahey.

Had there been a sequel made directly after the first one, then you might have had something. But twenty years later?

The only way I would be into it is if it is ONLY about the original Goonies. No "new Goonies," no cute kids, none of that crap.

Those of us that loved this movie as children are all grown up now. No need to introduce "Goonies: TNG."

Sean Astin was on a local LA talk radio show today (Kevin & Bean). He said that Spielberg and Donner have a script. He (Sean) wants to do the movie if it gets greenlit.

Considering Feldman ruined the commentary he will probably ruin any sequel that is made.
