Need helping figuring out a movie title
 
When I was a kid - probably around 20 years ago - my dad rented a movie I enjoyed about a basketball player that befriended a young boy. I want to say that it was an NBA player, they were building a camp maybe and the player died then other players took up his cause. The name Charles or Chuck keeps coming to my memory, but searches on IMDB have been fruitless so far. Seems like it may have been based on a true story, but it has been so long since i saw it I really do not know. Thanks for any help.
