Sadly, it seems they went the other direction with the movie - it's all about the environment, so even if there is a saucer landing at a Pakistani mountain lake with Reeves warning Bin Laden types to cool it, it would still be as far left as it can get.

Though I don't see how telling terrorists to "cool it" would be "a move to the right" in the least.

I kind of like the idea of Keanu trudging out of the water to a bunch of terrorists sitting in front of a cave and telling them simply, "Guys, cool it." And then wading back into the water and flying away.
