Looks fun to me too, although I expected a more serious mystery type of film then a action/comedy.

I have to agree with the person who wrote - Sherlock gets the Pirates of the Caribbean treatment.

It looks like an enjoyable time at the movies. Pretty much what I expected. Though I can't help but be disappointed at the potential for a proper adaptation of Sherlock Holmes with RDJ, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm fine with camp, but the trailer feels a little less "Big Trouble In Little China" and leaning more towards "Wild Wild West" to me. There is just that fine line between winking, empty fun and too self-consciously silly.

I've been looking forward to this since it was announced, but I have to admit that it looks pretty weak.
Downey is just Tony Stark with an accent, the comedy looks weak, and the trailer tries to make it look more exciting than it looks.

I think it will fall somewhere between Pirates of the Caribbean and Wild Wild West... sort of a From Hell with jokes.

Movie looks really entertaining, not what I was expecting, but should be a good time.

Come on, this movie looks about 20,000 times better than Wild Wild West. I still remember a blurb in Entertainment Weekly's TV guide several years ago that pinned WWW on HBO and the description was "Bad bad movie."

The movie will end with Sherlock dying, and a man stepping out from the shadows. It will be revealed that the man who died was, in fact, Mycroft Holmes, and the entire film was an elaborate ruse devised by Sherlock.
That having been stated, quite poorly I may add, I do hope for at least passing reference to Mycroft.

I also think the trailer looks awful, but every time I see it in the theaters the audience applauds. So it will probably do very well for itself.

This is to Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes what the Brosnan 007 movies were to Ian Fleming's James Bond.

My problem is the constant reiteration from the cast and crew that this film will be "true to the source", when it all too obviously is not.
Otherwise... I'm happy to see Robert Downey Jr. as my all-time favorite literary character, but it is a shame he will not be playing a faithful representation of a character who does not need re-invention.

Brad Pitt becomes ‘Sherlock Holmes’ nemesis
Actor Brad Pitt has become a late addition to the cast of SHERLOCK HOLMES after disapproving studio execs screening a rough cut of the film discovered that the sleuthing protagonist was noticeably missing his arch-nemesis. On late notice, Pitt agreed to portray criminal mastermind, Moriarty to help out director Guy Ritchie whom he worked with previously on SNATCH.
Production has been extended for an additional 10 days to allow Pitt to shoot his scenes in and around London. The film has already had its release date pushed back till after Christmas.
There is no word on whether or not Pitt will be crossing fists with Robert Downey Jr. who plays a re-imagined martial arts-fighting Sherlock Holmes. A source on set suggests Downey and Jude Law (who plays Dr. Watson) may come back for a day or two to shoot scenes with Pitt.

Wow. Well that's can't be promising if they're adding a character that may or may not even interact with Sherlock. I haven't been impressed with anything Ritchie has done since Snatch. which is one of my favorite films. I think my opinion on this has gone from stoked to somewhat interested. I'm sure I'll see it regardless.
