The Insider blew me away, so I went for that. Loved American Beauty, Toy Story 2, Fight Club, Megnolia as well. '99 was a terrific year for film.

Fight Club is my favorite movie of all-time, and clearly, that year. Magnolia would've been my runner-up (#4 on my all-time list) with The Matrix not too far behind. I own and enjoy all of these movies, although I'm surprised someone actually picked Eyes Wide Shut as the best of 1999.

Fight Club. The Matrix was mindblowing, but not like Fight Club. I recently rewatched it after three or four years and it still hooks me from start to finish. It's themes, I believe, will always be relevant and important.

'The Limey'... far and away my pick for the best that year... a damn near perfect film... i can't say enough good things about this movie...

'Ride With The Devil'... is probably #2... what a great film...

also 'The Iron Giant' is worth a mention... and 'The Minus Man' which i really like... 'Being John Malkovich' was an amazing film... 'The Cider House Rules'... 'The Green Mile'... 'Bringing Out The Dead'...

these would be my favorites from that year

1999 was a good year...

This was an awesome year for movies. I went with the Sixth Sense as it's still one of my absolute favorite films. Fight Club, American Beauty, and the Matrix all rank high in my book too.

I voted for Eyes Wide Shut. It's a masterpiece.

Fight Club for me.

A solid year no doubt. Never quite got the huge appeal of The Matrix (movie dragged for me, despite some cool effects also had a generic vibe to it (my own fault having seen all its "inspirations" long beforehand)) but that really took off. No love for Episode 1? .

My favorite was The Cider House Rules. I loved that movie. Saw it twice in the theater.

The Insider was great as well. In fact, that's aged about as well as any movie I saw that year.

It's hard to narrow it down though since there were so many excellent flicks released that year. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.

Yes it is. Not the best of the year but always worth a mention.

Although I do love The Limey I'm going to have to go with Rosetta.

Great movie year.

My #1 is Magnolia and #2 is Fight Club.

But I don't think American Beauty was even "good."

I loved both American Beauty and The Insider but I will go with American Beauty because it's more enjoyable to watch. Funny and moving.

My vote was for American Beauty, followed closely by the Insider. Fight Club just never worked for me.

I went with The Insider. Russell Crowe should've won best actor for this, absolutely stunning performances all around.

The first one from 1999 that sticks out in my mind (in a good way) is:

The World is Not Enough
