Red band trailers are all the rage now on the internets. I didn't expect one to pop up in front of Wanted. It was for Step Brothers -which looked hilarious. This was at a Regal Cinemas theater.
Have you seen any red band trailers on the big screen?

Last week (at a Carmike Cinema theater) I saw the red band trailer for Burn After Reading before Get Smart, which I thought was odd considering it's PG-13 and some people had young kids with them.

I saw the redband trailers for Pineapple Express and Hamlet 2 before You Don't Mess With the Zohan ... and the redband for Burn After Reading on Get Smart as well...both movies not rated R.

Last movie I went to see didn't have a single trailer before it. Terrible disappointment.

So when did Red Band trailers disappear? I remember seeing them sometimes at the local AMC.

i see red band trailers all the time. even ones attached to 'G' rated movies. i watch the trailer and then just attach the F-word 5 times in my head, even trailers for stupid looking robots that pick up trash on a ravaged future earth, and it becomes red band.

What I noticed that was funny when I caught Wanted at a Regal this afternoon was the red-band trailer for Step Brothers was trimmed ...
... trimmed to remove language.
Three uses of "fuck" are fine, but you can't say any more than that (they took out one of Will Ferrell's better gags, "I'm like a complete fucking package," along with some other scattered uses of it here and there).
They also took out when Ferrell shouts out, "This sucks massive camel dick."
...
Like seriously? I'm seeing a film which has non-stop graphic violence and gore with many uses of the word fuck. Come on. I can handle a few more and a good dick sucking joke for good measure.

I remember the first red band trailer I ever saw was for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... someone said "Fuck" in it and I nearly spit out my drink...

I saw a redband trailer for Pineapple Express this year - but I can't remember what movie it was attached to (it wasn't Zohan, because I haven't seen that).
I remember seeing a redband trailer for Basic Instinct years ago...I believe that was the first one I saw in a theater.

Knocked Up.
Superbad.
Walk Hard.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Step Brothers.
The Pineapple Express.
See a trend that started? Which led into other flicks like ....
Beowulf.
The Happening.
Wanted.
Burn After Reading.
... and a whole lot of others.

I love seeing red-band trailers. An R-rated film needs an R-rated trailer, plain and simple. It's hard to sell a gory horror flick, or a brutal action film, without being able to properly display what's going to be seen. Keep it up.
