Isn't that script all of the previous three stories put together?

Something other than drugs, gun sales, or money would be original.

Judge Reinhold is one of my favorite unsung 80's actors. The plot sounds interestiing, but I don't know if I can live without him. I guess if I can live without Jamie Kennedy (Except for that brief scene) in Scream 3, then anything's possible.

This has to be crap.

Ratner isn't even directing it anymore. He dropped out to helm the reboot of Conan.

I think the whole idea is sort of a metaphor for the Judge's fall from grace. Wait, I didn't intend that pun...

And don't pussy this out, people. Beverly Hills Cop III was a light PG-13 masquerading with an R. I'm not expecting Foley to cause Rambo-like brutality, but I want the same "What's the fucking charge for getting pushed out of a moving car, jaywalking?", fast-talking asshole who in action has quick, brutal reflexes to match his comic timing. Sort of like Mark Wahlberg in The Departed: his sarcasm and rather hilarious belittling of others culminates in
Spoiler:
his ultra-badass offing of Matt Damon at the end
and his one-liners are as quick as he is on the trigger. Make Eddie Murphy cool again, for fuck's sake. Charlie can't be the superior Murphy forever.

FYI: John Ashton should come back. He did a great job in Gone Baby Gone.

I'd love to get everyone back. I want to see Judge Reinhold is a large supporting role again.. to hell with the suicide thing.

Man, I've been saying this ever since BHCII. Enough with the plot contrivances that always send Axel to Beverly Hills. Can't they think of anything else? Imagine if after the movie Dr. No, James Bond's subsequent adventures always had him returning to Jamaica!

By the way, what does this quote from the article mean?:

Murphy's return is unsure at present

God, that plot sounds so bad...so bad that I'm SURE Eddie will sign on.

Isn't it called "Beverly Hills Cop"? They have to find some way of getting him to L.A., or else the series should have changed its name to "Detroit Cop Travels".

Yeah, but sequels aren't required by law to use the same title as the first with a Roman numeral after it.

"Beverly Hills Cop Presents Axel Foley: Operation South Beach" sounds so much better.

Hopefully Ratner is out. The film has a shot at being decent if that's true.

It must be rated R. And it better be funny, dirty, violent, and full of boobs and profanity. Get Danny Boyle to direct it. He's a chameleon of a director and brilliant as hell. Imagine a Beverly Hills Cop from the director of Trainspotting. Kick ass.

How about Paul Verhoven? Let's mix this shit up. Action films have become such pussified PG crap. The current era of films feels like the 1950's compared to the early 80's/late 70's. How about someone in charge show a little fearlessness? How about Eddie Murphy make a comeback from the ghetto of horrible children's movies? How about the film industry demonstrates half as much balls as their colleagues in cable television do every week?

I'm looking forward to a BHC4. Just make it good, fuckers.

"Beverly Hills Cop 4" Story Details

With a fourth "Beverly Hills Cop" aiming for a 2010 release, Latino Review has scored an early look at "Wanted" scribes Michael Brandt and Derek Haas' script for this new adventure of Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy).

The storyline of the new one kicks off when Foley's former partner Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) leaping off the twentieth story of Los Angeles Police HQ. Foley, who refuses to believe it was a suicide, returns to LA to find who did it.

Foley has a new partner named Goodwin, a fat rookie with low self-esteem who has a crush on a lady cop. There's also the wise-cracking limo driver Elliott who adds comic relief, and a scheme that involves corrupt LAPD cops and a rich kid with military links who're into arms dealing.

Lorenzo DiBonaventura produces and Brett Ratner is slated to direct. Murphy's return is unsure at present and the review itself paints a very bad picture of the project.
Man, that is a shitty, shitty, SHITTY plot!

Please tell me that is some fanboy's script or something and not the real thing.

I think the only way to do this right would be to bring back the original cast.

Christ, Hollywood will NEVER learn from its mistakes will it?

I like this idea though...

Maybe Jeffrey (Paul Reiser's character - what's he doing these days?) could be the one to jump from the building which prompts Foley's return to Detroit.

re: Beverly Hills Cop 4 (3/25/2016, Ratner) S: Murphy

Part 4 is back in development again now that the proposed TV series is dead.

EXCLUSIVE: Though it recently looked like the Beverly Hills Cop saga would continue on television, Paramount Pictures has begun moving fast on another movie. The studio has enlisted Eddie Murphy to reprise his role as Axel Foley, and they’ve set Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec to write that script. That duo has done very well at the studio, with recent script credits that include Mission: Impossible–Ghost Protocol and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake.

I read that the other day. I think I would've preferred the TV series more. With anything Eddie Murphy has done post-Bowfinger being horrendous, nothing good can come of a fourth film.

Ghost Protocol is one of the best action movies in recent memory but unless Brad Bird helms Cop IV I'm guessing the script has to really shine. I don't think Eddie Murphy is capable of funny improv anymore.

I don't know if those guys can't write a comedy-action movie though. Murphy would have to do a lot of ad-libbing.

Those guys are known for their TV work. They wrote for Alias, October Road and the American version of Life on Mars.

MI4 was awesome. But they didn't have a solid script during production. They just kept going and shooting. Brad Bird and Tom Cruise made it awesome, more so than the script.

Beverly Hills Cop was only okay. The 2 sequels were horrendous. I have no plans to ever see a 4th.

re: Beverly Hills Cop 4 (3/25/2016, Ratner) S: Murphy

Why don't they do the reverse and not cover the same ground. Have Billy go to Detroit instead of Axel going to Beverly Hills. Billy is still from Beverly Hills so the movie name works. Billy is used to all the luxery in BH, so have him get the fish out of water bit with the run down dirty Detroit. Get Taggart back as well. He finds out Billy is going to Detroit & knows he won't be able to handle it so he shows up to help.
