I wouldn't say his career went downhill more that it just changed directions. He has changed from the foul mouthed adult funny guy to the wise cracking kids character. A pretty remarkable change I would say.

Just a few of his successes since BHC 3:
Nutty Professor
Mulan
Shrek
Dr Dolittle
etc, etc
See a pattern here? heheh

Now with that said, BHC3 was horrifically bad...

You lost me at "Ratner". I have no doubt this will suck. Anyone want to wager that Axel gets stuck with some kids, or a young rookie partner that's played by some popular rapper? Pass, and phenomenally fail.

Hey, I despise Ratner as much as the next guy, but if this is an R-rated action-packed swearfirst like 1 & 2 I am there opening day. Murphy himself disowns 3.

But, this film NEEDS Ashton, Reinhold, and Ronny Cox. Give me that and the Beverly Hills Cop theme and I'll be a happy camper.

I'll check it out as long as it has a R rating.

Btw, I find part 3 to be my favorite by far. I am in the vast minority on this one!

Vast minority? You pretty much in another galaxy of your own with that one. Can I ask why? Actually, I NEED to know why.

Yeah, 3 is flat out awful.

The only thing going for it is John Saxon.

And we definitely need all the original cast to return.

And I hate to say it but this actually might be a good project for Ratner.

No style, substance necessary. Just your typical blueprint director needed to get the shots. The script and Eddie Murphy need to carry this to make it work.

why don't they ask Martin Brest to direct? I bet he's cheap these days.

I loved the first two. I won't pass judgment on this until I see it. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

I've always liked part 3 as well. It is certainly better than BHC2. I like the setting at the amusement park and think its pretty funny.

Martin Brest also directed MIDNIGHT RUN, a terrific comedy with DeNiro and Grodin. His BEVERLY HILLS COP was far and away the best of the three, so I would welcome him back.

Part III is up there with the first one for me. I think John Landis did a great job.

I'll see this one, but only if it has Judge Reinhold. I hope he's not too busy hosting Mock Trial to be in it.

Same for me. I've always really enjoyed BHCIII. Personally, I'm looking forward to this next one.

while BHC3 had it's moments, for the most part it felt very artificial.

to be perfectly honest, part 2 wasn't very good either, but it was finely made, and had all the same cast of cops from the original (that we cared about), which is more than I can say about part 3.

I thought that BHCIII was not a part of the series, there were too many tight shots and had a real soundstage feel to it. The actual movie isn't bad, but I always thought the selling point of series was that this guy is a normal cop trying to fit in a grandiose lifestyle with mansions, fancy cops, and the like.

really like 3 as well. I liked how by the end everyone was busted up and almost dead.

Gee, more 80's nostalgia sequels? I predict the same formulaic dreck for the Summer movie audiences.

I liked BHC3 as well. IMHO it was the highlight to George Lucas' acting career. I thought he showed potential.

BHC3 is MUCH better than BHC2, in my opinion. The only thing 2 had going for it was the Gilbert Gottfried scene.

I'd likely watch 4.

Part 1 & 2 had the music soundtrack that helped sell the movie with the videos. Something that was missing from 3.
Number 4 will be loaded with rap of course.
