Awful Movie ads

I'm not sure what made me think of this as a topic...

for the record, I think that "Man Bites Dog" poster is pretty fuckin' cool.

TomOpus 05-17-08 12:05 PM

I thought the baby pacifier version was more effective...

How about the banner ads we've had for the last couple weeks?

What on earth are you talking about? There haven't been any annoying banner ads that start playing all the time on this site. They certainly aren't in every single thread.

The posters for the "Sex and the City" movie generate absolutely zero excitement: it's just Sarah Jessica Parker standing on a sidewalk looking kinda drunk.

Tarantino 05-17-08 10:08 PM

You're right. Those don't excite me at all.

I like The Eye (although the movie does look horrible) and Man bites Dog.
my picks for the worst:

*sigh* I honestly do not understand how this could have been made. But I was actually forced to sit through a trailer for this tonight. It was more horrible than you could possibly imagine.

WTF.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is actually a real movie?

EDIT:

Oh my God:

The trailer actually played in front of Prince Caspian last night at my showing. The audience laughed...nervously, but they laughed.

Zen Peckinpah 05-17-08 11:41 PM

Beverly Hills Chihuahua looks fucking terrible. That trailer scared the shit out of me when I saw it a couple weeks back. The tagline infuriates me. Chihuahuas have never and will never be warriors, even if their names are Swan, Cleon, Cowboy, or Ajax. Although if this was all bulldogs or black Labs, I'd be slightly amused.

Thinking outside of the box, the trailer for Vantage Point was some horrendous advertising, and I saw it far too many times.

Boba Fett 05-18-08 12:44 AM

When the ad for The Love Guru came on before Iron Man a few weeks back, you could hear a pin drop. I thought to myself: is this 1998, because the movie reeked of the crap Meyers did a decade ago. Then out of nowhere, Mini-Me himself shows up in trailer and some guy blurts out "you have to be kidding?!"

Mrs. Danger 05-18-08 10:41 AM

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the theaters....

cultshock 05-18-08 11:01 AM

I love how the poster makes sure you'll know how to pronounce "chihuahua".

 I dunno what the movie will be like, but that preview had me rolling!

Mrs. Danger 05-18-08 06:46 PM

'course, Chihuahuas don't come from Peru.

They don't sing either but here we are.

PopcornTreeCt 05-18-08 07:16 PM

The saddest part about the whole trailer is that there wasn't a single real dog in it. Oh how I long for the days when the dogs were real and voiced by Danny DeVito and Diane Keaton.

chanster 05-18-08 07:32 PM

I don't know that Chihuahua movie looks pretty damn racist to me. Seriously.

You're very lucky. When I went to see Iron Man, everybody was laughing very hard at both that and the new Adam Sandler trailer. Ugh...

wewantflair 05-18-08 08:07 PM

That Man Bites Dog poster is awesome. Some people...
