Marvel announces release dates....

I overspoke; he wasn't a big part in the 80's, but he was part of the lineup for a few issues in the 80's. I remember seeing him in the front cover lineup while sifting through the Avengers.

I'll have to read up on what Marvel is doing. Taking my son to see Iron Man this weekend. We are both looking forward to it.

Great plans, but I've got to wonder how commercially viable properties like Thor and Capt. America are going to be. The movies themselves will need to look really fucking good to pull in audiences. Granted, Iron Man isn't as popular of a comic as Spider-Man or X-Men, but the bad-ass trailers and Downey's awesome performance drew people in to theaters.

Captain America has more name recognition than Iron Man imho, So the great marketing and RDJ pulled off Iron Man. Have great marketing and choose the right actor for captain, and I think you are set.

I will refuse to see a Captain America movie or Avengers movie if Matther McCounaghey is in it.
I don't care. He is one actor who I refuse to watch in anything.

Avengers could be fantastically awesome or it could be off the charts terrible. I think the one positive it has going for it is the fact that they are getting all the cast members that play the individual characters involved, unlike what Warner was trying to do with the Justice League flick. That should give the movie a ton of credibility.

Of course, Marvel would gladly do this if they could somehow coordinate schedules and shoot certain films concurrently. I'm sure they'll also make out as far as who would bid to distribute given the successes of the newer films.

IESB's Robert Sanchez spoke with Marvel big wig Kevin Feige today about the new Avengers film they have planned starring Captain America!
After the huge success of IRON MAN, Marvel announced a few films on their horizon including The First Avenger: Captain America set to debut in 2011.
Feige gave us a few updates about the film!
IESB asked Feige if the Captain America film would be a period piece. He confirmed yes, the story will take place during World War II, just like the comic book origin story. He says they plan to remain very faithful to the source material and completely traditional.
Feige also confirmed that it was definitely the Captain America shield that was seen in IRON MAN on Tony Stark's work-station as he's removing his suit for the first time. It's just an Easter Egg and probably won't have anything to do with the Capt. America story.
What about that casting rumor making its way around the web that Matthew McConaughey would be taking on the role? Nope, Feige says that's absolutely false.
Thanks to Kevin Feige for the intel!

From Flawed Hollywood:
It seems like Eva Longoria Parker might be looking to expand her acting resume because the actress was spotted leaving the Marvel Comics offices on Friday (September 12) in Beverly Hills, CA. Longoria was photographed carrying a copy of The Avengers, which just happens to be getting made into a movie in 2011, around the time that Desperate Housewives will be ending.

Well even if she's The Wasp...She's not exactly the Ultimates Version or the 616 version, or the Widow included. I dunno, I haven't seen her in anything that really shines as an actress overall...of course...we're just used to great actors in these films. Even Desperate Housewives was only good for what it is. Not amazing..but mildly entertaining.
