Jaws 1975 vs The Thing 1982

Which one is the better movie.

Note: This will be the last poll I make for awhile. I just wanted to see how people perceive The Thing compared to other classics.

Well, I couldn't go into the Antarctic for a long time after I saw The Thing.

Jaws is the better movie. More realistic horror.

The Thing is is just over the top creepy. Outright horror and out of this world effects.

As much as I love The Thing, there are 2 movies that have had me absolutely riveted to the screen. One was Alien and Jaws was the other. A lot might've gone wrong while making the movie but everything was just right where it counted... up on the screen.

Agreed. I would add The Exorcist as a third movie that had me riveted to the screen.

I never was a big fan of that one. Then again, it's been years since I've seen it.

Different strokes. The Exorcist(the original, not the terrible "Version You've Never Seen" version) is my all-time favorite horror movie and one of my favorite movies period.

Is it really that different compared to the Theatrical Cut? I always figured at most there was maybe 5 minutes of extra footage.

I don't like The Thing anymore because you've now made me sick of it.

I love The Thing, but Jaws is one of the best movies OF ALL TIME, so it's a no brainer. JAWS.

The extra footage was awful. The spider walk scene was stupid and the ending was ruined. The new ending with the priest babbling about movies with Lee J. Cobb is terrible, IMO.

Just imagine JAWS 7 years later with the advancements in special effects technology that The Thing had. And JAWS is still a better movie.

Jaws is a phenomenal film, but, again, The Thing is my favorite film of all-time.

The Thing wins... but it really isn't fair to compare the two.

This statement is weakened by the fact that I see a "The Thing vs "Citizen Kane" poll created by you just afterward

We're going to need a bigger poll.
