2009 horror remakes/sequels, many 3-D!

The 2009 slate sure is filling up fast. Hopefully at least some of these will be decent.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE (remake in 3-D)
PIRANHA (remake in 3-D)
FINAL DESTINATION 4 in 3-D
THE WOLF MAN
FRIDAY THE 13TH

And the scariest of all.....STEP UP 3-D!

I'm actually looking forward to THE WOLF MAN and FRIDAY THE 13TH

I'm curious about Friday the 13th. Jason has always been my favorite slasher, but having PD behind the project makes me nervous. I really hope they don't fuck it up like everything else they've done.

The Wolf Man could be awesome. I wish Romanek was still attached, but I think Johnston can pull it off.

Final Destination sounds badass. All of these flicks have been lots of fun, and one in 3-D should be no exception.

I trust Aja, so far, so Pirahna could turn out pretty good.

I could definitely do without a MBV remake, 3-D or not.

The new 3-D or the old 3-d?

So jacked for Aja's Piranha remake. I love the original, damn fine creature feature. And I think Aja's does a pretty good job.

Step Up 3D sounds like a whole different type of horror movie.

Prom Night and Terror Train are 2 other remakes that are coming out this year but I don't think either is in 3-D.

Curious to see the Terror Train remake. I think the original is pretty good.

All the 3-D movies will be shot with Digital HD cameras and presented in digitally projected, polarized 3-D. Expect flat 2-D versions to be available as well.

BTW, the 3-D movies going back to the 1950's used polarized, clear glasses. The never ending myth that the older films were shown theatrically in the inferior red/cyan anaglyph format just won't go away. True, a few of them were downconverted to anaglyph for re-issue (such as CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON) but none of them were originally presented that way, and the anaglyph versions are awful.

The only thing "new" about recent 3-D is the fact that it is being shot and projected digitally, and that that allows much better clarity and control over the presentation.

Only a tiny handful of 3-D movies have ever used the anaglyph system theatrically, and most of those were fairly recent, such as SPY KIDS, and all of them were only *presented* in anaglyph, and have been shown in polarized form as well on a limited basis.
