2007 OSCAR SHOW discussion thread! (winners, losers, speeches, etc...)

I thought it was time for the actual show thread with the show about 4.5 hours away starting @ 8:30pm EST on ABC.

From the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, CA. Post your thoughts on the winners, the losers, the speeches, the host (John Stewart), pre-show, post-show, and anything and everything Oscar show related.

I'm glad the writers are back and hope they had sufficient time to make a good show. If the first scripted show coming back last night in SNL is any indication, the writers are back with a vengeance. I just thought last night's show was the best in years and credit the writers for coming back stronger than ever.

The presenter is dreadful.
I've just seen a couple of bits of him. Funny? No!

10 euro's on Cate Blanchett for I'm Not There
10 euro's on The Counterfeiters

Did anyone see Gary Busey butt in to the interview w/ Laura Linney and Jennifer Garner?

Cocaine's a helluva drug!

Someone please post the video of this on here when it's available to do so. I have gotta see this. What ever happened to that show of his that used to air on comedy central?

HN 02-24-08 07:05 PM

so where do we usually hold this little shindig, in Movie Talk or TV Talk?

Chad 02-24-08 07:18 PM

TV Talk.

And call me crazy, but I like having two threads.

PopcornTreeCt 02-24-08 07:24 PM

A lot of these actors aren't quite as likeable as the characters they play.

George Clooney mentioned Batman & Robin!

Brent L 02-24-08 07:26 PM

Is Ellen Page Maggie Gyllenhaal's little sister? I've never thought that they really look all that much alike until just now on TV, wow.

Anyway, this should be an interesting show.

I can't wait to see Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova perform "Falling Slowly"!

DGibFen 02-24-08 07:31 PM

Heh, the opening montage is pretty cool.

Hokeyboy 02-24-08 07:32 PM

That was a sick opener! :)

Brent L 02-24-08 07:33 PM

So, anyone going to count the number of writer's strike jokes, political jabs, and Bush/Iraq bashes we get over the next four hours?

Don't plan on it, nope.

Numes 02-24-08 07:34 PM

Ok, I'm about 15 minutes behind on my DVR, so I'm still watching the pre-show. I just though I'd point out Daniel Day-Lewis' interesting hoop earrings he is sporting tonight.

Amy Adams....

HN 02-24-08 07:35 PM
