Re: Greengrass is done as director of the Bourne movies; Bourne 4 in doubt.
I'm not enthused about a fourth Bourne if Greengrass isn't involved. I thought Identity was an extremely average action pic that coasted on the charisma of the players - but then Greengrass stepped in and made two of the most exciting action pictures in a long time. I thought each film was better than the last and the realism/brutality that his style brought to the table made Bourne something to get excited about. I really hope they don't get Liman back, I like his movies but that would be a huge step backwards IMO. Not sure where they should go from here...

I think the only Cuaron film I've seen is HP3 (which was my favorite to date). Based on that, limited, exposure I don't feel like he'd be a good fit. I enjoyed Campbell for Goldeneye and Casino Royale. Interestingly, when Solace went the Bourne route for direction (read Greengrass style) I thought it took a step back; so I'd welcome Campbell to direct the next Bourne film.

The way I see it is that Identity had the best exposition and character development of the trilogy while Ultimatum was the best in the action department. Supremacy has a good balance of the two.

This franchise is a cash cow. No way is the series in "doubt" because Greengrass in no longer attached. And FWIW, even though I love him and his work, the first was my favorite.

That'd be interesting if Cuaron took over. Campbell atm is busy with Green Lantern, no? So...that might not happen..depending on when the supposed release date for GL is to be..

I too wouldn't mind if Doug Liman returned. He can bookend the franchise and call it a day.

Yeah, the franchise is worth too much for Universal (who doesn't have much going outside of the Fast and Furious movies, which in itself doesn't have the same broad appeal or box office legs) to just drop it. Now, they will have to go the extra mile to get Damon on board, I'm sure, so that part will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

As long as Tony Gilroy is writing the screenplay again, and Frank Marshall is back to produce, I don't see any reason why Bourne 4 couldn't be as good as the previous installments. There are plenty of good action directors out there.

I thought Ultimatum was a great film and wrapped things up perfectly. I hope they just leave it as a trilogy.

to his loyalty. Seriously, Greengrass made the franchise what it was. The films got better as the franchise went along, which is a rarity.
Seriously, if Greengrass and Damon aren't apart of it, then the franchise needs to be done with. While I love the suggestion of Cuaron, I'd rather see Cuaron tackle another film. And I hope Martin Campbell stays the fuck away.

I'm only disappointed since it is possible we won't see a teaser poster with "B4ne" on it.

Universal knows what kind of a cash cow the Bourne franchise is; they'll pony up the money and allow complete creative freedom to get Damon and Greengrass back on board.
That being said I wouldn't mind seeing Doug Liman return as director....with Damon back of course.
