OK, I'm back and I'll take up the wildcard.

Many people could quote lines of dialogue heard in this movie.
Spoiler:
Because much of the dialogue in Airplane! is taken verbatim from this movie.

I think the stats have made us all a little more competitive. We're also going out of our way to use older movies which makes things tougher.

This movie features brief narration, read by the greatest narrator that ever lived.
Spoiler:
Which would be William motherfucking Conrad, of course. Like there's anyone else who deserves the title of "greatest narrator that ever lived." That's Sterling Hayden in the bedside picture, BTW.

Most of this movie takes place in a confined area.
Spoiler:
A doomed plane, duh. This lady is about to be slapped silly by a succession of men trying to calm her down, just as in Airplane!.

No guesses for almost 36 hours?!!! Where is everybody?

I can't recite chapter and verse from the director's body of work but I will guess Night of the Ghouls which if correct will be a surprise to me at least.

I've actually been laid up with the flu today. Here I was afraid I'd miss someone's guess.

It's not an Ed Wood film, but it would be considered a forgettably bad movie if not for its connection to a later, hugely successful one. My next shot is a giveaway - I originally thought this would be guessed fairly quickly.

Yup, 1957's Zero Hour! - the movie that the ZAZ team saw on a late night TV airing and inspired them to write Airplane!.

Nah.
I'll get another screen grab when I get home this afternoon if no one has guessed it by then.

That's not it either.
I didn't think this one would be quite so tough, but it is definately a very forgettable movie.Throwing up a few more shots before I go to bed.

I know I have seen that troll guy from somewhere but my brain just isn't making the connection.

Also traffic to the thread has thinned out quite a bit as of late... although I also share some of the blame for that one
