How about, "I see dead people?"

Or "You can't handle the truth!" If you swallowed the hype on that one you'd think the movie was nothing but 2 hours of Jack Nicholson saying that line.

What makes me groan is the fact that people all over the internet use Star Wars-Inspired/ripped off/spoofed names. It's far worse than any popular line people like to recite in the real world.

"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum."

Sounds like a funny line when I read it, but the actual delivery just didn't do it for me.

1 - T2 - a guess, as it was actually "Come with me if you want to Live"...
2 - Robobcop - a guess, as it was "Dead or alive you're coming with me"
3 - my favorite of these, it's from - Big Trouble In Little China
4 - you already said...
5 - It's a Wonderful Life
6 - Titanic - guess, as it was "I'm the king of the world!'...
7 - Dirty Dancing

Duke Nukem delivers it better since he omits "bubble." It flows much better that way. God I loved Duke Nukem 64, lol

That's the problem for a lot of memorable quotes. They become immortalized and when you finally see the scene that it is in the delivery is just flat and matter of factly. It doesn't have the same punch when it is actually in dialogue and not being overemphasized when quoted, or misquoted.

"I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! I DRINK IT UP!"

Oh, I give it another few hours before it gets annoying. Until then, hilarity!

DonnachaOne 02-12-08 03:39 PM

... and now it's overrated.

Robertwoj 02-12-08 04:10 PM

"Resistance is Futile"

amplified 02-12-08 05:23 PM

"Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore"
"Go ahead, make my day."
"Rosebud."
"You can't handle the truth!"
"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
"I'll be back."
"Houston, we have a problem."
"You had me at 'hello.'"
"Say 'hello' to my little friend!"
"Hasta la vista, baby."

Just to name a few ;)

I always thought it was "No fucking shit, lady! Do I sound like I'm ordering a pizza?"

"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid that's not going to happen."
"I am serious, and my name's not Shirley."
"Of all the bars in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."
"I am big -- it's the movies that got small!"
"My name is Mister Tibbs!"
"Frankly, my dear, I could care less."

I'm going to blaspheme and say "Here's looking at you kid." from Casablanca is one of the most overrated and oft repeated lines in movie history. I remember before I first watched Casablanca, I had already seen the final scene and knew the line was to be said during that climactic moment. What I did not know and what completely killed the line for me was that it was said multiple times throughout the film. I think it would deserve its place on the mantle of all-time greatest lines if it was saved for that one climactic moment, but I went into the film (which I love) expecting to wait for it, like a drop on a rollercoaster, but then BAM!, there it is in the middle of the film.

I think it was more about the eye-threatening action figure than the actual character (who, let's face it, was a bit of a tool).

I'm casting my votes for every quote mentioned already from the Terminator series.

A few others (apologies if they came up already, as I skimmed through most of the posts):

Here's another from Ahnold...
"It's not a tumuh"-- funny the first time I heard it in about '91, but... not anymore, especially if someone is telling you they have a headache.

"There's no crying in baseball!"

"He's so money!" (should only be spoken in 1996)
