'Magnolia' - interpretations of kid's rap?
It's the one part of the film I can't quite interpret (the worm?). I get the angel metaphor and I get how John C. Reilly can't be bothered to pay attention to the content of the message because he's too distracted by the "bad" language, but the message seems to be lost on me as well.
Is the kid saying that the guy in the closet killed himself? |
No. It was something along the lines of 'The Worm did it'. The Worm is briefly mentioned by the police. And he was played by Orlando Jones in a deleted scene.
|
There's a lot more to that kid's storyline in the deleted scenes. Good stuff I wish it was left in.
|
If I'm not mistaken (it has been quite some time since I've read it and I may be bringing in info/scenes from other sources), the shooting script that was released as a hardcover book has some of the aforementioned deleted scenes in addition to many scenes slightly different from what appears in the final movie.
It is a great book for fans of the movie, I highly recommend it. I really hope New Line releases this in hidef sometime soon, one of the best movies ever. |

he was justified and also genius enough to outsmart the entire team of ignorant and arrogant investigators... with no connection to jimmy gator or access to the game show. not that it mattered to him, since useless trivia is useless where knowledge and wisdom matter most. street cred.

rapper kid was also smart enough to take pre-payment (not theft) on saving linda partridge's life... because he knew he would never receive due recognition or appreciation... nevermind reward in form of what people choose to value most.
rip david partridge. |
