Movies that involve learning about or understanding money?
Things along the lines of "Wall Street" or "Boiler Room". Movies that deal with money in some type of educational way even if it is mostly fictionalized. Those are the only two I could come up with....

Trading Places has good rundown of how the commodities market works.

The Producers (well, kind of :)) |
Other People's Money (1991)

Thought of another couple: the TV movie Barbarians at the Gate and Glengarry Glen Ross (though that's more about sales, it still has to do with how that is done).

The best films about money are documentaries, from left (Life and Debt, The Corporation, American Dream, and on and on), through the middle (Startup.com, Salesman, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, etc.) to the right (Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy), but here's a few fictional works that focus on money that come to mind:
Glengarry Glen Ross Blind Shaft Friends with Money |
There was a movie about an auto dealership. A new employee was talked through how to screw people over when buying a car. It ultimately came down to robbing the auto dealership and people dying, which I thought was kind of strange.
Anyway, there was a special feature on the disc, talking the viewer through buying a car. I don't know if that falls into your category, but it does involve understanding money to an extent. |
