Best/Favorite Scifi of the Decade ('98 - '08)
Wanted to include the end of the 90s which saw a couple influential scifi features. Whats everybody's favorite scifi flicks from the last decade? * I never quite understood how "Fantasy" fit into "Scifi" (the fi part, yes, the Sci part, not so much) but it often gets slumped into that category, so feel free to include them as well if you really want to (Superheroes work as well).
Some noteables, decide for yourself if it counts as Scifi:
1998 - Dark City
1999 - Abres Los Ojos
1999 - Being John Malkovich
1999 - The Matrix
1999 - eXistenZ
1999 - The Thirteenth Floor
2000 - Pitch Black
2000 - X-men
2001 - A.I. (Whatever happend to Haley Joel Osment?)
2001 - * Lord of the Rings / Harry Potter
2002 - Minority Report
2002 - Spider-man
2003 - Hulk
2003 - The Matrix Reloaded
2003 - The Matrix Revolutions
2003 - X2
2004 - Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
2004 - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2004 - * Night Watch
2004 - Spider-man 2
2005 - War of the Worlds
2005 - The Island
2006 - Children of Men
2006 - * Day Watch
2006 - Paprika
2006 - The Fountain
2006 - The Prestige
2007 - Sunshine
2007 - Transformers
(P.S. Why the hell does time fly by so quickly after high school
, can't believe its been 10 years since Dark City).
Personal Picks: Dark City, The Prestige, Spider-man 2, Matrix Reloaded (I really like the 2nd half of this flick, the first 45 minutes were a waste), Eternal Sunshine, Sunshine, A.I., Minority Report
Edit: I just noticed I forgot the Star Wars prequels
guess I already wiped those from my memory.

The Phantom Menace.
Just kidding.
Probably a tie between The Matrix and Minority Report. If Abre Los Ojos(Open Your Eyes) came out stateside within the last 10 years, I'd include that among my favorites as well.
Just kidding.

I think Abres Los Ojos came out in 1999 in the US (2 year delay, woohoo
) so that definitely counts.

1. Children of Men by a massive margin
then
2. Sunshine
3. The Matrix
4. The Fountain
5. Serenity
although I don't necessarly classify Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind SciFi, it would fall in the top 3 somewhere.

I'd put CoM up there as one of the best movies of the decade, but I don't necessarily think of it as a sci-fi flick.
A good one that hasn't been mentioned yet is Serenity.

I think CoM is the epitome of Sci-fi. Expanding upon/reflecting upon modern society within a futuristic setting... but again, it is a very flexible term.

Only reason it hadn't been mentionned is that people read the thread title correctly and posted good sci fi films.

RichC2,
Nope, the only English-subtitled DVD of Atomik Circus is the Thai PAL DVD (which has excellent anamorphic video/DD 5.1 French audio quality as well), just no extras....
It's available for pennies (well about 8 bucks) at ethaicd.com - http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=19519
