Recommend me a good, recent, SCARY movie

Silent Hill is pretty damn creepy, you may want to give that one a try.

28 Days/Weeks Later
Hill Have Eyes (2006 Remake)
Planet Terror
Disturbia
The Descent (I fucking hated this movie, but I guess you may like it)

These aren't necessarily scary but will keep you on the edge of your seat:
Pan's Labyrinth
Sunshine
Bourne Trilogy
The Host
1408
Children of Men

The Descent is a bit derivative, but is probably the best scary movie to hit cinemas in the last 5 or so years. I absolutely love the movie.

It depends on what scares you.

Monsters?
Serial killers?
Ghosts?
Claustrophobic atmosphere?

Your 5 years old or newer restriction limits things. Personally, as much as I like horror movie, only movies that feature ghosts really scare me.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard good things about 'Joshua', a little independent horror/supernatural flick. I think it releases on DVD either tomorrow or a week tomorrow.

Shutter. Turn off the lights and listen to it in DTS.

"The Descent" is def the best horror movie to come out in a long time. I also got a kick out of "Feast".

I listed it more for the gore aspect, cause some people get off on that.

Hatchet is a great splatter flick, but it's really silly and couldn't be ranked as a "Scary" movie by any stretch.

Fun flick, though.

very disappointed with this one as many have been as well. production value and acting is worse than the Sci-Fi channel's made for movies. some ok kill shots, but not worth seeking out, unfortunately.

I thought it was great for what it was trying to be. It's all about expectation going in, though, I think. Definitely have to be in the right mindset for it. Pitch perfect ending.

Again, though, not a scary flick.

The Eye. Although, you prob. want to stay away from the Jessica Alba starring remake in march.

Don't see Disturbia, easily one of the worst movies I saw last year.
Descent is great though, really scary and gory. I hear good things about The Orphanage, as well.

Disturbia is a scary movie?

The Descent would be at the top of my list. I would also check out Dog Soldiers, the director's previous flick.
