How many people here have seen "Hedwig"? Because, if you did, it would be number #1 
That's my first choice. Followed by "Once", "Sweeny Todd", "Hairspray" and "Chicago". The previews of "Rent" made me want to peel my face off.

"Rent" isn't as good as the stage show, but it's not bad, and gets better with repeat viewings. The 2-Disc DVD also has a great documentary on Jonathan Larson, the guy who wrote musical.

Moulin Rouge is the champ for me. But I have yet to see some of the more recent candidates. Once is a blind buy and currently in transit to me, and I'll probably be buying Sweeney Todd when it's released. I'm not sure if I care about seeing Across the Universe though.
