I'll go with Hairspray and Sweeney Todd (too different to choose)

Probably followed by Rent and Once, maybe Chicago

As someone who hates musicals in general, and liked Sweeney Todd, I'll say Once, as to me it's not even a musical, but a movie about musicians.

Once and Sweeney Todd

To be less specific, anything but Dreamgirls or Across the Universe.

Once, Dancer in the Dark, and Across the Universe.

And following those: Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Chicago, and Moulin Rouge!.

How many people here have seen "Hedwig"? Because, if you did, it would be number #1 That's my first choice. Followed by "Once", "Sweeny Todd", "Hairspray" and "Chicago". The previews of "Rent" made me want to peel my face off.

"Rent" isn't as good as the stage show, but it's not bad, and gets better with repeat viewings. The 2-Disc DVD also has a great documentary on Jonathan Larson, the guy who wrote musical.

Forget the poll. Choices include...

"Chicago"
"Rent"
"Dreamgirls"
"Once"
"Hairspray"
"Across The Universe"
"Moulin Rouge!"
"Enchanted"
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch"
"Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"
"The Corpse Bride"
"A Nightmare Before Cristmas"
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

Other, please specify...
The Nightmare Before Christmas was 1993...

Unless you're counting the 3D version?

I'd say 8 Mile or Ray.

Before last night, my favorite musical of this decade was Moulin Rouge. Now, it's Once.

+1

Once, Chicago, and Moulin Rouge.

Sweeny Todd was good but my expectations were set way too high. Maybe after I see it again on DVD...

Moulin Rouge is the champ for me. But I have yet to see some of the more recent candidates. Once is a blind buy and currently in transit to me, and I'll probably be buying Sweeney Todd when it's released. I'm not sure if I care about seeing Across the Universe though.

The Producers is the best musical of this decade, easily. "Keep it gay!!!"
