I think the guy Ron Pearlman played in Alien Resurrection would also be a good example of this.

I don't think the Ron Pearlman character was ever really "bad" outside of hijacking that ship. Talked tough a lot.

I don't really consider Boromir a bad guy, but his redemption always gets to me...

Not sure if he was totally a heel, per se, but Bub in Day of the Dead was a nice turn... for a zombie.

at SteelWill. Close thread now!

I can't see pics here at work so if someone hadn't already posted Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, that's my pick.

This slays me, since, when I first saw it (at age 11), I thought the T-Rex did save them/buy them time on purpose - A magnanimus act, that is, intentionally saving them and then waving them on with a head nod.

I was a pretty dumb 11-year-old.

While again not movies, this happens a ton in shounen manga (which are Japanese comics for young boys, and their anime adaptations) like Dragonball: where the main character fights all odds and gets stronger and stronger, and the early enemies/rivals become his allies against even bigger threats. This is similar to what we see in movies like Rocky.

Vader is the ultimate one, though.

Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma? Not a true face turn, but one of the best. Same thing applies to Ed Harris in The Rock.
