No big surprise, but Danny Elfman confirms he is doing the score.

From here:
I knew it was strange that in the original ALICE IN WONDERLAND set photos that came up from England during the early days of shooting (here, here and here) there were NO cameras set up in 3D configuration - just standard 2D setups. But I assumed that the shooting was preliminary and was merely being used to set the stage as it were for the stereographic professionals to take over.

Wrong. I just got word from a source in a position to know (first time source - but seems very trustworthy) that Tim Burton is NOT shooting AIW in 3D at all. Period. They intend on converting to 2D movie to 3D after the fact in post production!

With Tim Burton directing, what choice do you have?

If this is like a crazy, PG-13 or R-rated AIW then I'm there. Otherwise probably not.

From moviesonline's interview with Alan Rickman, who plays the caterpillar:
"The movie is a mixture of live action, animation, and stop motion, so it’s very complicated and I don’t think all three have been put together ever before."

Alan "the best Sheriff ever" Rickman as the caterpillar?

His voice sounds perfect for the part.

Not confirmed yet, but Slash Film sez Michael Sheen as the Caterpillar and Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat.

Re: Tim Burton to make Alice In Wonderland

Burton has an incredible imagination and everything he has done has been very creative. I enjoy most of his films but some of them are a little weird for my taste.

Re: Tim Burton to make Alice In Wonderland

It will also be in 3-D in thousands of digital theaters as well. Apparently the 3-D is being done in post though, and will begin when Alice enters Wonderland.

Re: Tim Burton to make Alice In Wonderland

So we got Elijah Wood, the corpse of Elizabeth I, and Emma Frost in this movie?

Re: Tim Burton to make Alice In Wonderland

I like the idea of this, in theory, but then flashbacks of Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory come flooding back.
