I was told the showing at IMAX was sold out and bought one for the next. I killed time by seeing The Mist again (which I actually liked a lot) and when I came out everyone was already seated. I said "Aw, Hell no!" and traded my ticket in for a pass I will use tomorrow night.

I'm actually looking forward to The Dark Knight footage as much as the feature. Any comments on that footage?

I'm wondering how much of I Am Legend's gross had to do with The Dark Knight footage. I'm guessing quite a bit.

The Dark Knight footage only showed up at the IMAX screenings, right?

And as far as Alvin is concerned...it's a kids movie. Don't they always make a shit-ton of money, regardless of how good they are? An adult can go to the theater every weekend and be entertained, kids can only go every so often.

Not to mention, the chipmunks don't even resemble the cartoon. Like "Garfield".

And MartinBlank: I'm all for kids movies. When they're good. Disney/Pixar have hit one home run after another. "Charlotte's Web" last year was quite good.

I guess i'm in the minority here but i like Will Smith. He's not the greatest actor in the world, even Will Smith admits that. But he definetely has charisma. I thought he was pretty amazing in The Pursuit of Happyness.

Probably not. Nor would they have been good movies. Or maybe they wouldn't have been movies at all without Will Smith.

Uhm...no. It only means you have certain tastes which isn't a big deal because no one is shitting on them. However, you seem to believe that your "certain tastes" are the only ones that matter. Clearly, and thankfully so, they don't.

Alvin $$$$$$

How quickly folks forget that Kids love stuff like that and they get two tickets for each show for everyone one that a normal adult film will have. One for the parent of each kid that wants to go see it.

Easy cash, especially in a time of year when the kids get a couple of days off for Christmas break.

Ok, fair enough. I still think it's funny that people freak when a movie people think "beneath them" makes tons of money.

Family pics always do well around this time of year, so no shock that Alvin cleaned up. Golden Compass fell hard which is a shame, while it wasn't great, I'd love to see a sequel.

Figured I Am Legend would open huge, everybody seems to "want to see it".
