Yeah, i'm obviously in a minority here, that's why I made a thread for the Stardust dislikers..

I was also disappointed that the other witch sisters didn't get to be young at all, as I remember seeing in the trailer. I was waiting during the whole movie to see what those actresses really looked like....and I was also disappointed to see Rupert Everett, who should have been the main bad prince, get reduced to a quick cameo.

OK, where are you guys renting and just watching this movie again? It's not even out on DVD until next week 12/18.

I never said I rented it.

It has charming aspects, but it took some effort to look past the flaws, in particular the clunky plot contrivances.

Did I say you did? Toddly6666 said he rented it. You said you just watched it again. How? Illegal download? Bootleg?

Brack, I know what I wrote. I asked: "where are you guys (plural) renting AND just watching this movie again?". One of you said you rented it. The other said you just watched it. Now that would mean you either ran out and watched it again in the theater. Which is highly unlikely unless you're outside of the U.S. because it's no longer playing here. Or other (DVD, bootleg, etc). Jesus!

Okay, terrible sentence, but I understand.

If Brack doesn't like it, then we all know it's a great movie.

For what it's worth, I loved it. I loved every single minute of it. De Niro had me in stitches. I'm picking up my screener of the HD DVD today and I can't wait to dive into it.

I'm able to have a conversation without resorting to saying things like "condescending asshole," if that's what you're asking.

Read somewhere recently that studios are rethinking the fantasy genre because this, "Bridge to Terabithia" and "The Golden Compass" have all been box-office underachievers. With an oversaturated market of "LOTR", "Harry Potter" and "Narnia". Which I think is ridiculous. It's just about the marketing and timing. And they all do great on DVD.

I live in Geneva, Switzerland for now (going back to NYC soon)...in the video stores here, they rent out the Region 1 DVDs weeks in advance before the official USA release date. They don't care about USA video laws I guess. But this country is just hurting themselves since USA movies tend to play in European theaters months later. A lot of the times since living here, the Region 1 DVD comes out in the video store before it gets released in the Swiss movie theaters...So what I don't understand is why would any theater play a USA movie in their theater if it's allready available to rent in the local video stores. And these Swiss video stores aren't mom&pop/indie shops having one or two DVDs that they subtly mixed in with the "official release date" dvds - these are like Blockbuster-type video stores with rows and rows of Stardust, Simpsons Movie, Balls of Fury, etc. DVDs...

Oh yeah, like calling someone a douche? In another thread discussing "Stardust" no less. Then you deleted it of course. Or maybe the mods did.

Wow, great argument you're making with something that may or may not exist.

It existed. And you know it. Two people had a different opinion of the movie and your mature response was "Whatever douche".

You're right, I remember now, but that was after someone more or less wished I was dead, so I was pretty justified when I said "whatever douche." It had NOTHING to do with the quality of Stardust.

Well, I certainly don't remember anyone wishing you dead. And I was pretty active on the discussion as it was happening. But if they did, then yes, you had every reason to call them that. Or worse. And should have left that on there.
