Wanted (Jolie. Freeman, Stamp, McAvoy)

Saw this when we went to "American Gangster" the other night.

While the title leaves something to be desired (sounds more like a cop film), I am a complete sucker for "assassin" movies. Leon, Grosse Pointe Blank, La Femme Nikita - all great. Hell, I even like Assassins, mostly because Antonio Banderas is so over the top.

Anyway, this is a definite rental for me, and possibly a matinee if the reviews are decent and the stars align. But seems like a great cast and like I said, I love me some assassins.

You know, you'd think a search for "Wanted" or "Jolie" would turn that thread up...

Well, I definitely have to give a big to Universal for releasing one of the few R-Rated films this summer. Just saw the Rating (Rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexuality) and my interest peaked 200%. Ill be there on opening weekend for sure now. Plase be 2 hours long and we could have quite a good film or maybe a starting point for a new franchise.

Have we gotten to the point where we'll see any summer action film just because it's rated R?

Yeah I noticed the rating as well (looks like a hard R too), I thought for sure this had PG-13 written all over it.

Yes, I will be seeing it for as its the one of the only R-rated films to be released this summer. The only other R rated films won't show up until August I think, with the exception of Sex and the City.

Don't forget The Happening. I actually think this summer has a larger than usual number of R rated films.

I don't have a prerequisite for running time, but I do hope this one is tightly paced and satisfying. Universal is looking at this as the start of a franchise and have already signed the screenwriters for a sequel. I think the movie looks awesome and just hope that the director makes a stylish and COHERENT movie - Nightwatch was such a weird, disjointed and confused movie that I'm a little nervous about this...

This looks everything "Swordfish" should have been. Good looking trailer and a strong cast. I might check out this movie.

How does it look that you took a general opinion so literally? I just sensed that the two films were somewhat similiar, not exact replicas of one another.

Re: Wanted (Jolie. Freeman, Stamp, McAvoy)

Just watched this and thought it was pretty good. It is funny I hated the comic this was based on but liked this. I'm glade they went with their own vision for this movie.

Re: Wanted (Jolie. Freeman, Stamp, McAvoy)

Yeah, "WANTED" was a fun film. After looking at the Trades of for the original comic after seeing the movie, I'm also glad they did their own story. Not that the original was bad, it just didn't look like something that would translate well if they had gone that way with the film.

Re: Wanted (Jolie. Freeman, Stamp, McAvoy)

This is a short thread for a movie that got a ton of good buzz. There must have been a second thread at some point.

*edit - looks like all the discussion ended up in the 'Trailer' thread. 214 posts.
