Famous Stock Footage (Man Shot with Cannonball)
I am starting this thread to discuss the origins of the "Man Shot with Cannonball" stock footage. Everyone knows this clip, it features a big fat guy being shot with a cannonball in slow motion, and the cannonball bounces off. The clip has been used in movies and television for years and it was imitated on the Simpsons when Homer got a job doing a similar act as part of a sideshow.
What is the origin of this footage? Was it a real sideshow act? Was it from a feature film or documentary?
Also, feel free to discuss any other famous examples of stock footage.
