"Landmark After Dark" (Bay Area, CA heads)

Didn't know where to put this but a group of Landmark Theaters here in Northern California, have been dedicated to showing cult classics for a while.

There are three theaters in the Bay that do this, mostly showing all of their cult classics at midnight. I saw Cannibal Holocaust twice at the Clay (SF) in March and it was great. They even held a raffle with a couple prizes.

Here are a list of the theaters for anyone interested:

The Clay Theater (San Francisco, CA) "The Late Night Picture Show"
October 12th/13th: Heavy Metal
October 19th/20th: Suspiria (*20th showing Feat. musical tribute to Goblin*)
October 29th: Rocky Horror Picture Show
November 2nd/3rd: Wizard of Gore (w/ appearance by Herschell Gordon Lewis)
November 9th/10th: Cowards Bend The Knee
November 16th/17th: The Shining

The Aquarius (Palo Alto, CA) "Midnight Madness"
October 12th/13th: Office Space
October 19th/20th: Scarface
October 26th/27th: Lost Boys
November 2nd/3rd: It Came From Outer Space (3-D)
November 9th/10th: Serenity

The Piedmont (Oakland, CA) "Cult Classics"
October 12th/13th: Scarface
October 19th/20th: Lost Boys
October 26th/27th: The Warriors
November 2nd/3rd: Serenity

ENJOY!!!

I'm surprised I have heard anything like this out of SoCal. There has to be something like this down there, with the sheer amount of theaters you guys have.

Didn't Tarantino hold a week long Grindhouse movie fest down there?

Bump for this weekend's showings.

The Clay (San Francisco)- Heavy Metal
The Piedmont (Oakland)- Scarface
The Aquarius (Palo Alto)- Office Space

Wow. Thanks for posting that vman69.

Good to see that the Landmark Theaters in SoCal are doing this as well. Maybe I should change the thread title to include both?

Peep 10-15-07 06:11 PM

Yeah, thanks! I keep forgetting about the NuArt's midnight shows.

Yeah Piedmont Theater. They have also been showing older cult movies at Cerrito Theater in El Cerrito which is owned by the same company as Landmark and is a refurbished cinema from the 30's or 40's.
Great to go and watch a movie and eat pizza and drink beer.

Suspiria was great on Friday.

I was nowhere near a computer this weekend, so I couldn't post any updates.

If you went to the Suspiria showing this past Friday, you could bring your ticket to see it again for FREE the night after.

Apologies for posting them so late. The season for Landmark After Dark started about early April.

Definitely going to try and head out to the Cannibal Ferox/Cannibal Holocaust showing. I've already seen Cannibal Holocaust at The Clay twice, once more couldn't hurt :)

Not Landmark After Dark related, but the San Francisco Premiere of Paul Solet's Grace, is this Friday (5/1) at Midnight. If you cannot make it that night there is also a showing on May 4th in the afternoon (12:30pm)

The showing will be at the Sundance Kabuki as part of the San Francisco Film Festival.

Re: "Landmark After Dark" (Bay Area, CA heads)

Heads up for anyone who hasn't bought their ticket for the Midnight showing of Grace tomorrow night at the Kabuki...

Advance tickets are sold out, but here is some info for anyone who still wants to drop by.

Tickets for this film are available for purchase at the theater. Tickets go on sale one hour prior to the first screening of that day. Sales are CASH ONLY.

If tickets sell out prior to the screening, there will be a Rush line. The Rush line will form outside the theatre prior to the screening. Approximately ten minutes prior to the screening, available Rush tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to those in line.

There are NO DISCOUNTS on Rush tickets and sales are CASH ONLY.

Paul Solet
is expected to attend this screening as he has been traveling with the film at various festivals.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like they are showing Goldfinger and Raiders Of The Lost Ark next week.

Sucks to hear about the Parkside (Oakland) shutting down. Never got to see any Midnight Movies there.

Grace tonight at the Sundance Kabuki!
