Re: So I finally just watched JUNO..
well it's better than them having a chance to nominate a film. God, heaven forbid should the general public have a chance to say what was the best film of the year. Granted...I'm sure TDK would be it...but...it was very good. Just not..Slumdog Millionaire good...

Re: So I finally just watched JUNO..
I had no desire to see this film when it came out...none (my wife wanted to see it though). It wasn't until my brother and his wife recommended it to me...that I decided to give it a shot.
The first 15 minutes were brutal. I nudged my wife and gave her the "are you f*cking kidding me?" look...
Luckily...I stuck it out for what I thought was a rewarding film. Yes...it's entirely unrealistic...but it put me through a range of emotions and I came out of it happy that I "gave in" and went to see it. I've seen it a couple of times since and I still enjoy it. This is just a polarizing movie...I have friends who love it and friends who loathe it.

For anyone in LA interested:
https://www.axs.com/events/333863/a-...e-read-tickets
“Juno” is approaching its 10th anniversary, and two of the leads will be paying tribute to the acclaimed indie with a live read of Diablo Cody’s script. Ellen Page and Jennifer Garner will reprise their characters, and in a great twist, the rest of the roles will be filled by women. The proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise will go to Planned Parenthood.
Writer/Director Jason Reitman revives his hit Live Read series, teaming with long time collaborators Mr. Mudd, to lead an all star cast in a live read of his iconic film Juno to support Planned Parenthood. Additional cast to be announced.

Ellen Page really rides this role. She was a guest at the LA Roller Derby dolls a couple of months ago. I think she even rolled with them for a bit.

She directed a terrible movie called Paradise.
She just seems to be sticking to writing. She is writing the Barbie movie. She created a show for Amazon with Tig Notaro. And she wrote another movie that Reitman directed; reuniting with Theron.

As dex14 pointed out, she's still working, but hasn't been as high profile as she was the few years following Juno. I think Ricki and the Flash was more notable for being directed by Johnathan Demme than written by her.

I never understood the hate for Juno, other than the opening sequence in the convenience store, that was just incredibly forced.
