I'll see anything with DDL and I'm sure his performance will be incredible. That said, I really wish someone with a bit more balls was in the directors chair. I can't pass judgement yet, but based on that trailer, Spielberg is all set to drop another sap fest on us.

I'm sure DDL's performance will be good, but I agree with many here... it certainly does look like it's going to desperately try to pull on the heart-strings while teaching us all valuable lessons. It's definitely a film made for the purpose of trying to win some Oscars.
Not surprising since it comes from one of the safest directors around - Steven Safeberg.

I know this is not a popular opinion in these parts, but Daniel Day-Lewis is too much of a ham for my tastes. I didn't think there was an actor alive who could out-do Sean Penn in the histrionics department, however, DDL proved me wrong in GONY and TWBB.
He was so great in "My Beautiful Laundrette," "A Room with a View," "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "My Left Foot." What happened?

I was waiting for the warhorse to run by in that trailer. As already said....this looks pretty corny but to be fair.....It's exactly what I expected from Spielberg. Hey, I couldn't make a movie to save my life....but we all know stupid when we see it.

Looks like they've heard the complaints and DDL is making some different choices in the redubbing:

I still think it looks pretty good. Typical modern day Spielberg and probably a bit on the safe side but I don't really see that as a problem. I don't see why people are making it out like playing it safe with a movie like this is a problem. It's not like he's got a reason to try to be edgy or anything with a film like this so I'm not sure what people were expecting.

I suppose I can see what you mean but truthfully that's basically more or less what I expected so I guess it doesn't really disappoint me. It still looks like it'll be good, it probably won't be a new look at the life of Lincoln most people don't know as well or anything but I'm sure it'll be a decent re-telling of the major events of his life/Presidency.

Is that what passes for humor on Jimmy Fallon's show?

The film test screened over the weekend and this is what one person had to say about it:
"The performances of Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, and Hal Holbrook were great," said the person. "Sally Field was miscast as Mrs. Lincoln, Joseph Gordon Levitt as Lincoln's eldest son was OK but he really didn't add anything to the story."
"My biggest issue with the film as a whole was, it was boring. With the film centering on the vote for the 13th amendment, ending slavery and the Civil War, you'd think Spielberg would have made a more exciting, riveting film. So much of the story takes place in small, smoky dark rooms with Lincoln talking to one or two people, that my mind began to wander. It felt claustrophobic. If he had shown the horrors of slavery and the Civil War, it might have evened out the story. They pretty much kept the film centered around the politicians."

It's not like Lincoln was any kind of Ulysses Grant; as great Lincoln was, he wasn't out there fighting in the trenches. If the film had been called "Lincoln & The Civil War," I can see why you'd be bored by what you saw at the screening. As it was, guess Speilberg did what he expected to do - a film about Lincoln.

I can't wait for them to add a gymkata fight scene with velociraptors to punch up the excitement.

That said I'm not particularly interested in this, while DDL is badass, it's more fun to imagine him staying in character after filming, shouting out "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" to all the technology in the room than this movie likely is. I miss Spielberg's more fantastical movies.

With JGL in the movie, BATMAN should have made a guest appearance.
Hey, Lincoln teamed up with Bats on BATMAN: THE BRAVE & THE BOLD.
