I saw this in Toronto last year and it was my second favorite movie after "The Wrestler." I feel that there are 10-15 minute segments in the first half of the movie that are as good as anything I've seen. It has an intelligence, wit and style that jumps off the screen. I felt that the last third of the films suffers when compares to the rest of the film, but not enough to not recommend seeing it in a theater. I really hope it can find an audience when/if it's released.

For me:
I would give Brick a 9 out of 10 and Brothers Bloom 8.5 out of 10.
They don't have much in common.

I saw this at the philly film fest but i found it dissapointing. it didn't come together for me once it was all set and done but it had some good funny moments but overall I would give it a 7/10. it should be trimmed about 10 minutes and the ending re done, in my opinion.

I just saw Brothers Bloom last night. It's a highly entertaining con-artist movie. I think this film is ten times more interesting, entertaining, and creative than those Ocean's 11 movies, but it's overall just a fair movie...I liked this more than Brick though, and the director is certainly interesting and I like his filmmaking style. It was almost like a quirky cross between Amelie and The Sting. Excellent direction, acting, and soundtrack. I'm not crazy about con-artist flicks, very cliched and really not that surprising or interesting as they used to be, but the director tries to challenge the cliche, which still in turn, comes out cliched.
Highly, highly entertaining! I would give the film a B to B-. And A+ for creativity. I felt the same about Brick, not such a great movie, but A+ for creativity.

Terrific film. Had a great time watching it. My only gripe is the running time. It was about 15-20 minutes too long. The first hour extremely fast moving. I loved the movie's style. But the 30 minutes or so really dragged. Regardless, I'd give this an 8.5/10

Just watched this today - Really enjoyed, had a tenenbaums/hercule poirot feel to it.
Agree with others about Schell's character. seemed odd. Robbie Coltrane on the other hand was perfect!
Thoroughly enjoyable film. Great location shooting as well.

I liked the movie but it felt like Riann Johnson was working outside of his style and trying to force quirkiness into a story that really is pretty straightforward. Where it works for JPJ and Wes Anderson, it just doesn't (in this case) for Riann Johnson.
I still recommend this movie, but it can wait until DVD. It's very good, but not great. But with two far better movies playing right now (the very entertaining Star Trek and the near-flawless Up), I wouldn't urge people to go to theaters to see this.
Also, when did Universal/Focus sell the rights to Summit? Is that why there was a delay?
