4. Rottweiler on a leash outside the hotel.
5. "Ferris" wheel.
6. Call he gets in car is from "Grace".
7. The walrus at the history museum.
8. Guy in Detroit Red Wings jersey on roller coaster

Once you get past the initial nostalgia, you start to think how much better it could've been. I'd be interested in what the behind the scenes deals looked like - if Paramount owns the Ferris character, that's probably why they had to portray Matthew as himself.

It's actually Roeman, Peterson & Frye, but I can't figure out what the "Roeman" might be a reference to, unless it's a variation of "Froman", in which case I don't know why they just wouldn't use "Froman".

Anyway...

9. License plate: "SOCHOIC"
10. If I'm not mistaken, that's Ferris' sweater vest in the store window at the :59 mark.
11. The A1 EZ OK PARK sign at the valet is the same one from the parking garage in the movie.
12. Matthew's agent, Walter Linder, is the same name listed above Abe Froman's in the reservation book.
13. The horse chair in the agent's office is the one from Ferris' bedroom, seen during the "lick your palms" instructional.
14. The "2800" at the end of the phone number from Grace in the car is the Bueller house number in the movie.
15. The guy on the Chinese float wearing the sash "Honored Guest" I'm sure is a reference to the parade in the movie.

Yeah, that's why I separated the names. Almost mentioned the "Roeman" thing since, like you said, it sounds like "Froman". Seems odd why they didn't just use the name since it was a big part of the movie.

The local news said there are 2 dozen references. Since he's not "Ferris" in the ad, I wonder if obvious things like the towel on his head would count.

Well, I just meant that it didn't say "C. Frye". It was an "&" sign.

I'm sure they do, both obvious and obscure.

16. Speaking of obscure, could the lightning ball on the agent's desk be a reference to the one in Cameron's bedroom?
17. The drink in the guy's hand behind Matthew at the race track is the one Ferris is holding while talking to Cameron on the phone telling him to get his ass over there.
18. The restaurant he ends up at at the end of the commercial is "Chez Neuf", a possible reference to "Chez Quis" in the movie.
19. The child's drawing on the agent's desk is on Ferris' fridge after Cameron talks to Rooney.
20. The guy to Matthew's right at the race track in the flip-up sunglasses...a possible reference to Rooney's sunglasses?

Oh shit is that what that was? I was having a hard time seeing it very clearly. Makes total sense now.

21. "Broderick, Broderick", the parking attendant at the hotel.

Also, are they by chance singing "Danka Shane" in Chinese at the parade? Don't know Chinese or whichever languauge they are singing but it would not shock me if that was the case.

And I must be blind, but where the heck is the picture of Sarah at the :08. Can someone please circle or have an arrow point at it in the screenshot. thx

I think Honored Guest is what the Chinese character(s) would be for "grand marshal"

Re: Ferris Bueller 2: Another Day Off

I was reading via an ad site, that there are in fact over 200 references to the movie in the spot.

Someone pointed out Ferris's vest in the store window at, but if you look there is also a suit (perhaps Rooneys) and Camerons shirt he wears when he jumps int he pool Also right before that is a guy in white carrying flowers (just like the guy standing next to the singing nurse in the movie)

No way there are 200 references. That's more than 1 per second.

Re: Ferris Bueller 2: Another Day Off

I think to get to 200 you'd have to count every line and camera shot that resembles something from the movie. For example, the opening shot showing a close-up of his face horizontally in bed is from the movie; and where he walks by the nice-looking girl outside the hotel and comments to her is probably a reference to Ferris talking to the sunbathers in the yard toward the end of the movie. Personally, even with stuff like that I think you'd be hard pressed to get to 200.

I guess Ferris Buller 2 will never be made, but there is a new commercial.
