Timothy Dalton was the Best Bond Ever, and fit Fleming's vision of the man better than any other actor has to date.

Casino Royale is VASTLY overrated and has a plot that's all over the place, although Craig IS a good actor.

Agreed and usually each "variation" is more absurd than the last one.

I have not seen the latest one, hopefully it is an improvement.

Goldfinger, the the exception of some iconic gadgets and key catchphrases, is poorly paced, not very exciting, and features an entirely incompetant Bond.

OHMSS is the best Bond ever made. (may not be an "unpopular" opinion)

For Your Eyes Only is better than Goldeneye.

The Man with the Golden Gun is better than its reputation, as is Moonraker. Both take the self-parodying ridiculousness of Diamonds are Forever to its logical conclusion.

Timothy Dalton's two movies are both among the best Bonds ever made. License to Kill is a top five Bond movie.

Never Say Never Again doesn't suck.

Live and Let Die and A View to a Kill are the worst Bonds (may not be an "unpopular" opinion)

Casino Royale has too much card playing and an uneccessary coda. The middle half of the movie seriously drags.

Claudine Auger (Thunderball) remains by far the hottest Bond girl ever. Carole Bouquet (For Your Eyes Only) is second hottest.

-George Lazenby IS James Bond, only Daniel Craig can come close to being as good a James Bond.

-Dr. No was a boring film & the only saving grace of the movie was Jack Lord as Felix Leiter.

-The producers of bond should have given the money Jack Lord demanded so he could have been in more Bond films.

I can't believe so many people like Goldeneye. I thought that one sucked.

1. Timothy Dalton kicked ass as Bond.

2. George Lazenby really IS that bad. So was OHMSS.

3. Brosnan was a little too much of a pretty boy to be Bond. I never bought him being a gruff ass-kicker, only a suave ladies man.

4. Casino Royale is easily in the top 5 Bond films ever.

5. Roger Moore's best Bond film: The Man With The Golden Gun.

6. Most of Brosnan's films were weak, especially Tomorrow Never Dies. Pryce as a villainous media-mogul? Ooohhhh, that's real scary!

but if you control the media, you control the WORLD!! ...cue evil laughter...

The plot may be weak, but I like it. It is a great action movie. The motorcycle chase is still one of my favorite chases in film.

It could have been, but the disco score always takes me out of it. That's why I prefer Octopussy.

I like MGG because of Christopher Lee. Some of the other things are just too ridiculous. Nick Nack is the probably the worst villian sidekick in the series (he's not a physical or mental threat...what's left). I never understood how people could like SPLM but hate Moonraker. The latter is basically a linear sequel with exactly the same tone.

I could never get past the scene were Bond and Largo play "space invaders" or whatever. The whole thing seemed like a really bad copy of Thunderball (and I missed the Bond themes...didn't seem right to have a Connery-Bond w/o them. In it's favor, I think Von Sydow is the best choice in the series for Blofeld.)

Agree 100% on Auger, though Eva Green does give her a run for her money. Carole Bouquet is also in my "top 5". Always thought it was interesting that in real life she was only like 6 months older than Lynn Holly Johnson.

1. George Lazenby should have won an Oscar for OHMSS.

2. A View to a Kill is the only Bond movie worth watching more than once. Other than the performance of Christopher Walken, it's a near-masterpiece.

My contribution: James Bond really wasn't a very good spy, was he?

James Bond Movies are NOT Spy Movies!

(...ok, maybe From Russia With Love was, but that's it! The rest are all Action Movies with a British Spy as the lead character!)

It was a bad copy of Thunderball. I think Kevin McClory owned the movie rights to that book and wanted to cash in, so he just remade it and got Connery for the box office draw.

Casino Royale was a joke. I thought it started off with some great action scenes and then just trailed off. The lead was awful and I didn't like the rest of the cast much either. So many of the things that made Bond movies so good seemed to get left behind when they made this one. Seeing Bond beaten and most likely ruined "down there" for ever was something just way too far out there for me. I don't mind seeing Bond get stomped but treat the downstairs tenants with some respect.

The other Bond movies, which cheesy and clichéd, did stay true to the overall tone of the series IMHO. Casino Royale did everything it could to fuck up and be totally different. I don't mind a new Bond now and then but I still want the old Bond character and flair.

-Never Say Never Again puts many EON Bonds to shame.

-Connery would have never worked for On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He was a womanizing bulldog which he played perfectly for the films tailored for him. The unknown and younger Lazenby in contrast to the well-known Rigg could not have been more perfect than it was.

-You Only Live Twice is underrated. Very epic, beautiful to hear and watch, like an elegant painting..

-Die Another Day is excellent during the first 2/3.

-Moonraker is my favorite of Moore's Bonds. Pure escapist rollercoaster. With Moore in top form and excellent villain.

-John Glen's workmanstyle direction resulted in bland and dull films, lacking style.

-Casino Royale is the worst Bond, not because it was realistic, because it abandons Fleming's larger-than-life sophisticate (which was always present in the previous Bonds no matter how hokey they got) in favor of a rookie gymrat hothead.

-For Your Eyes Only is an underwhelming sleepwalk of a film.

-Barry Nelson and Peter Lorre of the televised 1954 Casino Royale was a good Bond and villain.

-Roger Moore was a menacing Bond when he'd go cold. He had a stare that would make Timothy Dalton cower.

-Drearyball, i mean Thunderball, is long and boring. Too bad the director left the editor to salvage the bloated mess.

1. Don't get me wrong, I love looking at pretty girls just like most straight guys. But to be honest I never really cared about who Bond was banging in the movies. In fact, I feel most Bond films grind to a halt when the sex scenes roll. The exception to that is when Bond in genuinely in love like he was in "Casino Royale" and in the earlier Bond film which escapes me right now.

2. I was NEVER really a huge fan of Bond's smartass comments. I don't mind a sharp tongue but making goofy comments after kicking an enemy's ass is lame. Roger Moore's run was the beginning of the age of lame one liners.

1) Licence To Kill is one of the best Bond films.

2) Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me are two of the most overrated Bond films.

3) Timothy Dalton was a great Bond.

4) Pierce Brosnan was a weak Bond(except for GoldenEye).

5) Diamonds Are Forever sucked.

6) Telly Savalas was the best Blofeld.

- Dalton was the best Bond.

- Charles Grey was the best Blofeld.

- The Man With the Golden Gun is the most entertaining Moore film (gratified to find I'm not alone in this opinion).

-Moore's truly was the most entertaining Bond and as others mentioned Octopussy is his best.

-Dalton portrayal of Bond was the closest to Bond in the novels; His best was License to Kill but The Living Daylight's was closer to a novel.

-Brosnan's best was The World is not Enough and Die Another Day 2/3's is good, however the dialogue in the beginning was horrible and the CGI towards the end was bad.

IMO:

Live and Let Die is a classic.
You Only Live Twice is probably Connery's best Bond.
Brosnan's film's are fine Bonds - even Die Another Day has an excellent first half at least, and then it falls apart.
Brosnan's villains are weak.
