Did you know that The Departed is a ripoff of Internal Affairs?

I saw The Departed first and I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I watched the Internal Affairs. IA is soooo much better, imho, that I just don't understand how the Departed could have been such a huge hit. It just copies IA scene by scene and adds a twist to the ending that is completely stupid.

All imo, of course.

Remake is the accurate term, it even says its based on Infernal Affairs in the credits. Hell, there's a Media Asia banner before the movie (The Departed).

I saw Infernal Affairs first, I prefer The Departed. Dialogue and music made it for me.

...and Reservoir Dogs ripped off City on Fire...and on and on...I have no problem with rip-offs/remakes. If they are good then so be it.

I've heard that these "Lord of the Rings" movies are actually ripped off of some old books. They take it pretty much scene for scene. Same with "Harry Potter." Is there no originality in Hollywood anymore?

Seriously. I hear that there's a film so bold as to call itself Infernal Affairs 2 that even has some of the same character names! Can you believe it?!

I told this to a friend of mine and she argued with me for like 15 mins, bringing up crazy things like "It couldn't possible be a remake because it is about the Irish Mafia and the Irish Mafia isn't in China" (but she's pretty)

No its not a rip off; its a re-imagining as Mr. Zombie has said. Boy is it going to f**king suck.

Major Zero, I think The Departed is much better than internal affairs. Im sure some people might think that Mr. Scorsese is overrated but the guy makes some pretty damn good movies.

Scorsese is the only director in my, Ill see anything he directs. Its usually the Ill see anything hes/shes in.

My favorite part in The Bloody Departed is when Leonardo and Jennifer Garner are running away from the guy from Amistad because he has a killer diamond and then Charlie Sheen is like "Oh no I'm falling off a building!"

And here I thought The Bloody Departed was a British production.
