Rush Hour 3 — the reviews thread

http://images.rottentomatoes.com/ima...0/photo_17.jpg

Well, reviews are coming in for the third installment of the Rush Hour series and... they're not stellar. Variety writes that it "stays true to the franchise formula of East-West fusion action, broad cultural comedy and international intrigue" but other reviewers call it anything from "desperate" and "stale" to a "sorry, soggy mess."

I fully expect to check my brain at the door when I see this and the previews were entertaining enough that I think I can tolerate it. Should be better than The Pink Panther by almost any measure, at least.

Rotten Tomatoes http://images.rottentomatoes.com/ima...all_rotten.gif 23% positive as of 8/8/7

The movie opens Friday.

I enjoyed the first two Rush Hour movies but will wait this one out to rent on DVD, just doesn't really look good enough to warrant a trip to the theater.

The reviews I've read are horrible. But, I've enjoyed the other two, so I'll probably see this in theaters.

DJariya 08-08-07 08:57 PM

Don't really care about the reviews. Love Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker and will 1000% see this on Friday. I have my free movie cash from buying Friday last week.

i could live without it so i doubt i'll take the energy to go to the theaters and see it. I really think the only movie I'll see next will be Superbad.

I seen this last week, and if you liked the first two, you'll like the third.

What if I liked the first one and hated the second?

DRG 08-09-07 10:30 AM

The trailers have that 'comedy franchise that's run out of steam' feel to me, same as Shrek 3. Plus I imagine there will be even less trademark Jackie Chan martial arts action this time around, although Ratner never even delivered that adequately in the first film, so I imagine it will be even less now that Jackie is ten years older.

Draven6593 08-09-07 10:32 AM

I think this looks trite; unless the reviews are great, I'll pass.

Rush Hour 2 got horrible reviews as well, and I enjoyed that quite a bit. I'm totally down for this one...actually one of the few movies I actually looked forward to this summer.

Or hated the first one and loved the second???

starseed1981 08-09-07 12:55 PM

For me, this is one of those...I can turn my brain off and be entertained for 90 minute movies.

No Rosalyn Sanchez, no sale...j/k...kinda

I like the first 2 so it's only natural for them to get more money out of me

I can say I'm not very excited to see it, but will to feel complete...yea

GuessWho 08-09-07 01:47 PM

I'll wait for TBS

Premise 08-09-07 02:38 PM

If you like Chris Tucker screaming and getting into trouble, and not understanding accents. And, if you enjoy Jackie being the cool headed one who kicks people and uses everyday items as weapons, then you'll love this one. It was a short movie also, it was around 85-90 minutes.

Giles 08-09-07 02:42 PM

it's interesting that Chris Tucker crawled out from under a rock to do this movie... then again, maybe not, he needed another fifteen minutes worth of fame.

$25,000,000 + 20% back end gross would pretty much get me out from under any rock and working again.

ktan1 08-09-07 02:59 PM

what does back end gross mean? are you telling me he gets 20% of box office receipts? or after costs?

I was being facetious.

Defiant1 08-09-07 11:33 PM

Saw it last night and had a good time. If you liked the first two, you'll like this one. It's basically more of the same. Jackie's level of stunt work isn't as high due since he's getting older but he still does a few really cool moves. And Jackie & Chris have this great chemistry. The audience was in hysterics at all the right places. As always, stick around for the bloopers during the end credits.

I would like to see Jackie Chan and Jet Lee in a movie acting together that would be very nice.
