Brainstorm movie list: Individual vs. Institution/Matrix
I'm working on a project and I need to compile a good list of films that demonstrate the struggle of an individual or small group against institutional powers, be they government, corporations, or any oppressive all-powerful organization. Bonus points for an individual who "wakes up" while the rest of the populace remains ignorant or passive.
Think:
The Matrix
Network
We'd even stretch the definition to cover an individual born into or thrust into a false world (like The Matrix, or even Truman Show...), only to be awakened. Seriously, anything from The Wizard of Oz to Three Days of the Condor. Okay, you get the idea - enough rules... any ideas? Thanks...

I'll go outside the box to start: A Bug's Life . . . and then I'll take the Rowdy Roddy Piper classic "They Live" for the bonus points! Some other all-time faves of mine: Dark City,
Donnie Darko, and . . . wait a minute . . . aren't pretty much all movies about the struggle of an individual against the masses?

Logan's Run
THX-1138
Falling Down
The Matrix
The Insider
The Island

"the struggle of an individual or small group (i.e. Skywalker and the Rebels) against institutional powers, be they government, corporations, or any oppressive all-powerful organization (i.e. Vader and The Empire)"
