The original soundtrack sample is called "Into the Navi World" and I really like it. But that is not the title of a song on the soundtrack, anyone know what song that sound clip comes from? Thanks.

Just got back and love love LOVED it. It had me from beginning to end; it's going to make a billion dollars. The effects are amazing; this is the first 3-D movie that didn't feel hokey. It's so subtly done that it just draws you in and creates a completely immersive experience. Instead of something cheap like a sword jutting out into the audience, so much of the 3-D is about painting things in the background instead of the foreground. You really feel like you're on Pandora surrounded by jungle and creatures and the blue-skinned aliens.
On that note, the trailers completely undersold the Na'vi. Where they were laughable in the promotional material, in the film -- when you're in the Avatar universe -- they come off as proud and fearsome and emotionally connected. The story might not be the most original around but it's so perfectly told that it just sucks you in. And the climactic battle is a sight to behold. It's not quite Battle of Helm's Deep but it's a showstopper to be sure.
I walked out thinking "wow wow wow." Call me a fanboy, but this was a great film.

I don't doubt that you saw it BJacks, but would you mind telling us how you were able to get into an early screening? I'm glad to hear you liked it though. I haven't been one of the bashers of all the trailers and tv spots, I've kept an open mind about it.

I'd suggest you keep it as an unreleased bonus track.

Just a thought...a couple of the tracks on the soundtrack seem like they might be slightly spoilery...and that "I See You" song might even have spoilery lyrics. Haven't seen the movie, but I thought I'd give others a heads-up. Nothing major (like the terrible, terrible spoiler on "The Phantom Menace" soundtrack), but I know some people like to go in completely blind.
Also, add me to the list of "can't wait"ers. Unfortunately, two of my daughters have a Christmas show at their school opening night. Hmm..."Avatar" or Christmas Pageant...I'm betting the school didn't spend as much on their show as Cameron did on "Avatar."

Variety loves it:
Twelve years after "Titanic," which still stands as the all-time B.O. champ, Cameron delivers again with a film of universal appeal that just about everyone who ever goes to the movies will need to see.

Glad to hear it's reviewing positively so far. I'm always cheered when good movies do well. Hope that continues.
At this point, I'll probably catch a late-night 2D showing by myself, just to say that I've seen it. My wife loves sci-fi and fantasy but has zero interest in this. I'm sure it'll pass the time well enough for me.

Sam Rubin from KTLA blogs (And Huge Font at Drudge Report):
OSCAR BOUND:

OSCAR BOUND:
London --- Just left the 'World Premiere' of "Avatar," and while the standing ovation the film received at its conclusion is probably just the requisite politeness; I can report that this is another rare example where the quality of the movie does indeed exceed the hype and "Avatar" will most certainly be among the 10 'Best Picture' nominees for the Oscars; and James Cameron will also be a Best Director nominee.

On that note, everyone should really see this in 3-D. Having flipped up the glasses on occasion to see the difference, you really lose a lot of the immersiveness if you opt for 2-D. I'm sure it's still a fun movie, but you're missing out bigtime.

I wish wish wish I could see it in 3D, but I'd have to buy a plane ticket to get to the nearest town with a 3D theater. The joys of living in a remote area! At least the theater here is getting it opening day, and it will have DTS surround sound!

This is going to be a very long week
Wait, let me not undersell that. This is the most amazing cinematic experience I’ve ever had. There are, admittedly, story elements that give one pause. The film isn’t total perfection (though I’d argue this is a very mature, thematically beautiful screenplay from James Cameron). The filmmaker can’t help himself in a number of instances that are too on the nose.
But so what? Seriously. This is why we all go into dark rooms to be transported to other worlds. Cameron gets it. And he delivers. A thousand times over. It’s the kind of film you want to take any and everyone with you to see. Not to be too cheesy — it is absolute magic.

So basically it's looking like Titanic all over again - people putting Cameron down, pretty much hoping he fails and then a big fat "I told you so" in the end. Naysaying net nerds just never learn...

I'm pleasantly surprised at the almost universally good reviews the movie is getting. I have to admit, I was a bit worried when I first saw the trailers, the movie looked like it had potential, but I had a nagging sense it was going to be awful. Now I can't wait to see it in IMAX 3D here
