20 Years of Siskel/Roeper & Ebert Episodes to Be Put Online This Week (7/29 - 8/5)
I was watching Ebert & Roeper today, and towards the end of the show, Roeper revealed that in this upcoming week (either August 2nd or 4th, couldn't quite remember) there will be over 20 years and 2,000+ video reviews of the show, including specials as well (If We Picked the Oscars, director-centric episodes, etc.), will be put up at www.atthemoviestv.com. Unless I missed something, everything will be streamed completely for free.
Moreover, Roger Ebert will introduce the archive and hold a live chat about the site and "whatever other questions you want to ask." How I missed the bickering between Siskel and Ebert--it'll be an absolute blast to watch again! Again, the website: http://www.atthemoviestv.com |
I saw this on the show today as well. I'm really looking forward to watching some of the old review clips between Ebert/Siskel and Ebert/Roeper. I'm sure there are plenty of classic arguments over the 30+ years of the show.
I'd like to hear what Roger has to say during the live chat but it'll probably be too much of a bitch to get into on Thurs. that I'll probably pass. I'll visit the site when the excitement has died down. |
That would be amazing if they sperated everything so that you could search for a certain movie and get the reveiw clip for just that movie.
|
If I remember correctly, Roeper mentioned that there will be a search engine and that reviews will be accessible by movie title, by director and by actor.
|
I wonder if we'll ever get to see Roger again on the show :(
|
nice can't wait. Always loved watching the show as a kid, it'll be great to go back and watch some first impressions of classic movies. Wonder if they will put up outtakes of some of the classic arguements (like the ones on youtube)
|
They better have the "two thumbs up" reviews for Speed 2 and Under Siege 2. :)
|
I remember Home Alone 3 being a good one, Siskel saying something like "Roger, are you okay?" and Roger firing back with "better than you were when you gave thumbs up to Starship Troopers." Good stuff.
|
How about when Gene Siskel gave HALLOWEEN 3 a good review.
The look on Roger's face. |
^^^ Classic comedy.
|
I remember a review, can't remember the title, but it was in the mid-90's. Siskel gave a thumbs down to the movie, but Ebert gave it a thumbs up; Siskel was so shocked at this, that he and Ebert debated it to the point that the latter retracted his thumbs up and changed it to a thumbs down.
Then Siskel tried to get Ebert to look directly into the camera and apologize for giving the thumbs up to that Burt Reynolds movie Cop and a Half (I think Ebert was the only critic that liked that film). |

I'm sure it's keyboard chat, not audio/video chat.

This won't be upped

I got to hang out in the Ebert & Roeper tv studio today. Very small.
|
The website is up and running now.
|
I've never changed my bookmark and find it funny that http://www.siskelandebert.com/ still takes me to the right place.
|
This is going to be a very entertaining resource. Pity one has to sit through that increasingly rage-inducing "This is Amanda Congden reporting from New Orleans for my latest update on the Members Project" again and again and again. I'll have to keep my fingers on the volume knob. It is also unfortunate that one doesn't have an alphabetically browsable list of reviewed movies.
Edit: A couple of other reservations I have: The search engine is poor, and the reviews don't go back any further than about 20 years. |
Yeah that intro commercial gets old fast.
I was disappointed to see that they accidently attached the review of Batman Forever to the listing for Batman and Robin. |

The live chat is this afternoon at 8pm Eastern, right? |
This is so great.
Siskel's phoning in describing the plot of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had me rolling. Almost too deadpan. |
this is great!...I just listened to their review of Child's Play 2 (i'm a big fan of the series, leave me alone lol) and I can't believe how close Ebert was to giving it thumbs up! He says "it delivers the goods, is truly terrifying and well made" yet he was so "disturbed" by it it gets a thumbs down...isn't a killer doll SUPPOSED to be disturbing?? And would the movie be "truly terrifying" if it wasn't disturbing? lol I know this movie and the others in the series are rather humorous now (bride and seed intentionally), but it seems to me that if you found the movie to be well made and scary, shouldn't it get a thumbs up? I guess it just wasn't an enjoyable experience for him...I however love CP2 and have no shame in admitting it lol

I get a lot of starting and stopping when watching the videos
|
Kick Ass!!!
I never thought I'd get to re-live the chick-flick beatdown of Moonlight and Valentino! Oh, and I guess the mention of Fellini and Steven Segal wasn't a figment of my imagination when brought up for the enthusiastic review for Under Siege:2! |
