Is LOOKER (1981) ripe for a remake?

I purchased this film recently and it has aged remarkably well. The message regarding CGI people replacing actual models and actors in Hollywood is still quite scary under the premise of this early 80s Michael Crichton tale. Given the huge jump in technology we have experienced over the past decade and the fact that so many unworthy movies are remakes, why not this one?

I haven't seen LOOKER, but it sounds like they borrowed some of the plot from the movie SIMONE.

Try the other way around.

Check the release dates...

Who would sing the theme song? Kelly Clarkson?

I am disappointed that nobody on this forum is too interested in one of my favorite films. :(

This movie was a staple in my young life. When the monthly HBO / Cinemax guide would arrive in the mail, I would scour it to see if 4 or 5 of my favorite movies would be playing. 'Looker' was one of them.

To me it had everything: a cool sci-fi story; a pretty unsubtle satire; some prescient ideas, and a naked Susan Dey. The climax through the studio sets was weirdly suspenseful, but also kind of silly.

I'd wouldn't mind seeing the original again, and I'd be open to a remake. Although, if I remember it correctly, a lot of the futuristic things in it are somewhat reality today.

Was this movie in 3-D in the theaters? The effect of the gun always made me think that.

I also used to watch this movie constantly while I was growing up. The best part of the Climax is the advertisement for "Spurt". I haven't seen it in quite a few years, so I'd be interested to see how it's held up.

I'm interested in one of your favorite films. In fact, I voted for it to be released and now own it.

However, the answer to your question is a resounding NO.
